They just need $1 billion more in funding. Just buy more $1000 ship packs and you'll get to play it at the retirement home.

About time they get some pushback. Dipshits giving them thousands of dollars and carrying their water when all it is is a fucking tech demo have allowed Chris and company to do nothing but spurge. The game makes great pics, but you can get AI to create that slop for free.

I know that this is the game a lot of people have been waiting for, and roberts is the guy who can get shit done.(In the past.)

Why does it feel like that it is just becoming a massive scope creep system, that by the time the game actually launches, they would have better spent money on building a real Star Engine.. Instead of fighting CryEngine(FOREVER).
Is this a copy/paste of a post in this thread from 5+ years ago?

I'll bite and give serious answer.

Chris Roberts has no incentive to launch it, really. He appears to be getting fully funded to pursue his passion/hobby to make whatever his latest whim desires with no external force like a publisher or investors that are forcing him to a market launch. If you look at the funding model it would appear the game is actually incentivized not to launch.

Its income year over year is increasing currently and a launch would theoretically limit the amount of ships and other pledge items they could continue to sell. Instead, he has come close to discovering an infinite money glitch that lets him indulge in his desires to just continuously develop his personal dream project and employ and pay his friends as long as he keeps showing some sort of progress and releasing new ships for backers to purchase. Eventually there will come a potential reckoning when his payer base gets angry enough to revolt, but so far to his credit he has done a good job of releasing enough new content and progress to keep the people paying the money coming back.

Eventually I think the game will hit a 'launch' that will have it slapped with a '1.0' label that in essence will functionally mean nothing. The game will still continue to get updates and new content and try and cling as close to its current funding model as possible until Chris Roberts decides he wants to retire. Then he will either pass it off to someone else to continue the grift, or transition it to some more live service MMO type game.

But... yes. Chris Roberts has been given permission via the constant flow of income to scope creep until either he or we die, whichever comes first.
