That is one smooth tool, I just effortlessly made my own Corp-site in 1 minute. Some very nice options and pre-made templates, which you can all adapt to your own likings. Private chatroom, forum, roster, all very professional.

I already counted at least 2500 organizations, off course many are just 1-man organizations like mine, and will likely stay that way or get assimilated/abandoned. Just staking claims. Biggest organizations has already 960 members, next one 600 and a truckload with 50-100 members. I can't believe how popular this project has become.

So I went to the forums and saw that there are entire threads dedicated to people making Star Citizen artwork, including all kinds of stuff with SC logo's and art, like etched glasses, office clocks, all fanmade. Fun stuff and amazing PR.

Here's hoping the gameplay will be fun.

I know, I'm really impatient for this game. I hope they hit their target of April for the dogfighting and planetside modules.

Most games probably wouldn't even have been announced yet at this stage. Well, maybe THIS stage, but not as early as the hype train started for this due to kickstarter.

Exactly. It hasn't even been a year and a half since the KS campaign ended.

They have this fundraising down so cold, I am convinced they could hit 100 million with nothing but a demo here and screenshots there. Really well done on their part.

I think marketing definitely played a part, but there also is nothing else in this space.

The thing is for every EQ fan there are a dozen or more Wing Commander and Privateer and Space Sim ones IMHO. There are dozens of EQ derivative games out in the exact same mold. There is nothing except EVE for us, and I despise it's Flight Modeling as do others.

I'm fairly anti KS, and they got me to preorder $45. I know several other guys my age who likewise don't do KS. They also pre-ordered this. I think some of the ship sales are really silly, but I'll be very surprised if this game doesn't come close to living up to the hype.

There's this and there's Elite: Dangerous as well

Elite set itself smaller goals (and got considerably less Kickstarter funding) but it's also going to be released well before Star Citizen as a result. My heart loves the promises made for SCO, but my wallet likes the actual tangible progress of Elite development. My worries are that SCO has too much money and they can lose their focus, while Elite might have too little to finish what they've started. I have fingers crossed for both games.

After the abomination of X Rebirth, the bar is set pretty low right now. I haven't followed Elite too much, but I assumed it was more along the X-line of games which I love, but are a far different beast than the MMO persistent world that SCO is aiming at right now. I'll have to check it out. I don't even remember the old Elite games and I have one of them in my basement.

We'll see how elite turns out, but it's more than a single player campaign of Xwing and tie Fighter. It's much closer to Star Citizen in terms of scope and intent. It has online components very similar to SC in that it can be singleplayer or a persistent world.

One big difference is that it relies on procedural generation of content and is aiming for allowing hundreds of billions of stars (aka practically infinite) of space.

But the derth of space sim games has been broken by four big space sim games: X Rebirth(disaster), Star Citizen, Eve Valkyrie and Elite Dangerous.

I feel like all the people on this board who constantly talk about wanting to experience a living breathing world again need to be looking at this game, and should just get over the fact that it's not fantasy.

Not sure what you mean. When this game hits beta this community will be playing SC. Right now the only thing you can do is jerk off onto virtual space ships you paid $100 for.
