It's got some gay stuff along with a bit of Current Year ideology in it (our lead unironically uses the term man-fiction as a derisive alternative to fanfiction in one episode) but aside from a VERY gay two-part series finale that shit is mostly found early in the series. As soon as you're moving through season two the show fully has its own identify. Concerns it's another thinly veiled platform for the culture war all dissipate as our overbearing lead calms the fuck down some.

If you liked 60s-90s Trek, you'll probably like it. The show draws heavily from that era.
