the borg queen itself never many any sense btw. like, it could make some sense as a criticism of real communism corruption as noted.. but again, hivemind expressly without the bureaucracy. its clearly a mixed metaphor of the writers wanting them to just be evil and scary, and a plot contrivance to have a single actress. which can be brought back over and over.

The borg having issues with finding a consensus makes sense. Especially with new species being introduced. Something the show never addressed. Every additional Federation citizen added to the collective, should have edged new ideas into the collective. whats the populations? if the Borg claimed the ENTIRE federation, would they hit 51% and be in charge?
The natural born borg being overrun by newly assimilated borg should have been a plot point..

A borg queen isn't really the answer to the borgs consensus issue. Representatives would have been. each cluster having a representative which communicates with other representatives.

Borg Hive Mind is also the politics forum lol

The politics forum is an arena of ideas. It mostly leans one way yeah, but even within that there's a lot of disagreement on how to go about things. A hivemind would be if we were all in some kind of lockstep. I get criticized on there enough to say that isn't the case, and I welcome the criticism because it's the only way for me to refine my ideas into sharper ones.

As for the Borg, yeah, 100% the current showrunners don't understand them.

For the most part I like how this wrapped up. I hate when a lot of stuff happens and then the original status quo prevails, and that's not what happens in Picard. Some cringey shit along the way that reminded me of Caprica for some reason, but outside of that and wanting a little more ship porn I enjoyed how this season finished.

"See you out there."

It was decent for a finale. I do appreciate they actually gave a stronger acknowledgment to Khan and the 90s. Other stuff

So the Travellers are part of the Watchers (Gary 7) and trying to protect the timeline? Kind of an interesting detail. It’s too bad Picard couldn’t tell Wesley to shut up one last time lol

Q dying (or implied to be) seemed kind forced, although I kind of like how Picard being chosen had more to do with the fact Q just liked him vs it being some cosmic importance. He just wanted to make sure his favorite human would be ok and be there when he died. I do find it interesting Q says he was going to die alone, which either suggests the Q kicked him out or something happened to them?

Anyways, I’m sure the transwrap things will tie into the S1 threat and the final season will focus on the galaxy teaming up to stop it

For half a second I thought the upper right was Starship Troopers and immediately invalidated the opinion of the person who made that gif lol

I can’t really forgive them for what came before but I mostly enjoyed the episode. The Wesley stuff was entirely unnecessary but I did have a bit of sand in my eye during the Q bits.

Q was 100% the reason to watch this season. It’s a shame he was underutilized. The scenes between him and Picard were great and didn’t miss a beat from the TNG days

Picard: Mommy Issues the season lol

binged through it all the last few days, dumpster fire of a season as expected, but I thought it was better than season 1. Absolutely loved Q/Picard, its such a shame there was so little of it. The last 5 minute scene between the two of them together in the finale is top tier Star Trek, maybe the only good scene in the entire 20 episodes. I did enjoy the Borg Queen shenanigans although its too bad they have Flanderized the Borg, but to be fair they did that long ago. The mexican doctor chick was muy caliente.

The Confederation stuff was really cool, too bad it only lasted like 40 mins but woulda loved to see way, way more of that stuff. 7 is still super hot. All the shit in the last 10 minutes was hilariously bad and just a rehash of the CGI bullshit season 1 finale. At least it was short I guess?

best part now is getting to watch the RLM videos, yay

you could literally just make a super cut of Q and picard moments and it would be the best season, everything else did not matter.

so yeah the show is absolutely an unmitigated disaster and waste of time but man the RLM videos covering season 2 are absolute gold, you can go in blind since the show makes no fucking sense anyways and they cover the threadbare plot, 100% recommend watching the 4 or 5 episodes they did covering the entire season. Haven't laughed this hard in a long time

its awesome from how they are semi hopeful in the beginning, "oh this wasn't so bad it was nice seeing Q" to the wretchedness that comes off their faces by the end

I tried watching the RLM video of episodes 6, 7, 8, and 9, a few weeks back and after about 15 min I shut it off, not a single laugh. I want to like RLM, as they seem to hold similar views, but every video I have attempted to watch is just dull.

i think the reason why they are hard to watch is because we are literally watching them mourn their first love's death.
