Finally watched episode 3, its getting a bit tough watching them since they keep riding wildly between "well that was interesting" and "what the fuck is this shit".

Its the Luke Skywalker problem all over again though, younger people who grew up past the prime of the property are adapting it to fit their world without really understanding or respecting the character. Luke kills students and walks away from the Galaxy for 20 years. Picard just shrugs and accepts Starfleet abandoning a billion (?) romulan to a supernova and walks away from his XO (?) and doesn't talk to her for 14 years? Wat? He has literally done the exact opposite multiple times in TNG.

Its very "old man yells at clouds" but why do so many iconic characters from the 80s and 90s just give up and accept defeat in their reboots, while they are iconic in those time periods for literally never giving up and doing everything to fight on.

Vape nation and "pro-tip" and "I'm very expensive" (???) are cringe as hell, but I really did like all the Borg cube stuff. That Romulan brother and sister are fucking, all that pornhub incest is starting to leak over to mainstream TV shows.

The first time the federation really goes in past the worm hole knowing that they would encounter the dominion brought the enterprises twin with them... it got owned... the battle IN the delta quadrant they only time we really fought on their side, I think they showed 2 at least 1 galaxy class ship and they got owned... in the end of the war when they ramped up all the space battles where was always multipule galaxy class ships in the fleet...always blowing up randomly in the background,.

Edit: the odyssey - is what many of us reference and yeah, they could have just shot it...but it was a bigger message to do what they did

In their first encounter Federation shields weren't any use against Dominion weapons. Using a Galaxy class starship in that DS9 episode and having it not only crippled but destroyed in a suicide run really put over the Dominion as a serious threat. That level of viciousness was new and the Dominion would continue to be a serious threat for the entire run of the show. In comparison Voyager took an omega level threat like Borg, introduced an even bigger big bad with Species 8472, hand-waved them away and then beat the piss out of the Borg over and over again with a crowning insult in the finale.

The original script for First Contact called for a fleet of borg cubes and an epic battle. But.. budget. So it became only one cube with a smaller set of Federation ships. DS9 at least tries to show the amount of hardware involved but don't expect them to dwell on the details of how an actual battle should occur.

Only Disney wants to throw money around to render thousands of ships for a movie, and it was for a film that no one cares about a month later.

Kurtzman goes donkey kong at office, cracks TV screen over Doomcock lambasting of him and the show.

Would make sense if true as the past 2 videos have been pure gold. The comedy chops of Doomcock are well known at this point, and also the Section 31 leaks have been tremendous.

Between the leaking nonstop of Section 31, and the lambasting. I'm sure there is a strong hatred.

Section 31 is known to cause Kurtzman and CBS to be thrown further into debt. Debt would be a reason to get angry.

Hmm, I actually really like this series so far. It is a bit slow and the borg ship scenes are even slower still. But I am intrigued and looking forward to when it starts connecting. Definitely want more.

Several good points about the most recent episode, but then there's also sock sliding on a borg cube and that sister totally wants to hatefuck her brother.

I'm enjoying the show a lot really but the Romulan plot of hating artificial life seems odd to me. I never remember that being a thing in the past. Also, I wish they would go more into what happened in regards to Romulan space, if the Federation, Klingons and others ate up any of their space and what's going on really in the quadrant since the Dominion War.

I guess, really, I hope the new Section 31 series (if that truly happens) goes all into that since it seems like this one isnt.

Romulan space, if the Federation, Klingons and others ate up any of their space and what's going on really in the quadrant since the Dominion War.

That would require writers who have actually watched Star Trek.

That's called world building and seems to be in short supply these days. The supply of good writers has definitely not kept up with glut of entertainment.
