I couldn't make it through episode 1 of discovery. Its shocking to me there's a literal dozen of the people here who have trucked on this far, when it was plainly obvious that the creators behind this pile of shit hate star trek, and know about as much about science as your average 40 year old catlady.

I shut discovery off half way through the 2nd episode. I just couldn't get past whatever the fuck those things were they were calling Klingon's. I have no intention of watching Starfleet Academy.

I watched more of discovery than that. I turned off brave new worlds on the second episode. Whichever one where show tunes saved the universe.

That was in Season 2 and it was indeed a low point of the show. Most of SNW is decent. But every once in a while the terminally TDS captain actor or writers put some major cringe into the episode. The biggest issue is they have to treat STD like it actually occured.

Watched it last night. As usual you guys are over-reacting. Not that it's good, but it's just not bad in the ways I was lead to believe. Captain sounds like she's talking through dentures and why the fuck won't they ever brush her hair? I guess that's a by product of being 500 years old? Whatever. The writing is embarrassing. It's funny, the overall show is so bad that I don't think I've even seen anyone talk about the starship design where the parts aren't even touching. I guess they're held together with magnets? There are some interesting things here. It shows a much grittier federation. It's just poorly executed.
For the people complaining about the fat officers. This is the inevitable end of metoo. If they're not giving roles to people they want to fuck, they're giving them to people for stupid reasons.

What is this absolute horseshit everybody's talking about?
I haven't watched this, but... the way this woman sits in the captain's chair actually pisses me off in a visceral way
It feels like it's intended as a direct disrespect to people who value rank, order, station, being a FUCKING GROWN-UP, and everything else that makes the human race actually succeed at anything.
I'd like to see humans chug along towards hopefully a Trek-like future, but I doubt we will. We can't clone 100,000 Elon Musks and the future will probably consist of people like him being wiped out by people who think a captain's chair deserves the same respect as a fucking dorm room cot.
Also weird to see that glasses are still needed despite earlier Trek shows fixing vision problems hundreds of years before this, and that obesity is all over the place in the distant future when obesity was long-since erased.
Glasses, obesity, treating the captain's chair like a dorm room... I can pretty much visually sketch out what the narcissistic dumbasses who wrote this show look like.
