The way I see it ever since TOS, Star Trek has been progressive. But as mentioned they would also focus on good stories to tell.

Summed up:

Good writing prioritizes story first and seamlessly weaves a moral or message into the story if needed

Bad writing prioritizes a moral or message first and sloppily constructs a story around that

Supergirl on CW was a prime example of the 2nd point during its later seasons - the writers would prioritize a message and vomit a weak story around it that frequently would disregard how a character would act at best or logic at worst.

The Cardassians also never struck me as "the white man". Mainly because they're grey and strike me more as an allegory for imperialists in general. The Bajorans are whiter than they are, and strike me more as an allegory for invaded/conquered nations in general rather than specifically American slavery.

So you've never heard the blacks call whites colonizers? Well, it's a real thing. I guess you can google it if you don't believe me. Whites = colonizers therefore any commentary you see that seems like it's aimed at brits can also be aimed at all whites. You're too hung up on actual skin color. Trek used to be subtle with it's social commentary.

TOS has the first interracial kiss taking place between Kirk and Uhura.
I'd like to point out he fucked green and blue chicks before he kissed a black one. They flirted with it a lot before they pulled the trigger on that kiss.

Inb4 someone complains about Roddenberry.
Just read his wiki page yesterday while chasing the Star Trek rabbit. Dude must have had legendary levels of rizz. Looking like that he had both Majel Barrett and Nichelle Nichols as side pieces at the same time while he was making Star Trek.

He was a real Harvey Weinstein! Kept that casting couch warm!

He might have had Shatners stink hole too. Who knew?

The original had the black/white face episode. Nimoy (as Spock) had the perfect wtf facial expression when the dude tries to explain which side being white was obviously better. Lol

So he never came back in 800 years? lul

I'm slightly tempted to watch the episode to see how they decide to handle this

It will be fake and gay whatever their poorly derived explanation will be.

Stop giving them clicks/streamtime

You joke, but Avery Brooks was reportedly angry about how they ended Sisko’s story because he felt like it was inadvertently playing into negative stereotypes by effectively making him an absent father and is supposedly one of the reasons he never reprised the role

I've never picked up the DS9 relaunch novels but I think he comes back in one of them!

Jake was already an adult when the series ended, so that's just bullshit. The stereotype would have been to dip when he was 5. That character's ending was one of the best in all of scifi. Dude got to go live with an alien species in the wormhole pretty much forever. He is going to be on par with Q or the Traveler when he comes back.
