Casting both McCoy and Sulu for the finale kinda sorta implies they have some sort of a plan for a sequel series that follows along with Kirk's Enterprise....

Hearing this a lot the last couple days. I think remaking the original Star Trek series with a new actor playing Kirk, etc, is a TERRIBLE idea.

Like, please don't.

Strange New Worlds is basically the same concept, only with new characters, and they should just keep doing that rather than trying to replace something that beloved.

Wrath of Khan is still the best Star Trek episode/movie ever, and the Enterprise/Reliant battles (this video, and their extended duel through the nebula) are the best space battles ever put to film. Every shot matters, and you can tell this was made by people who survived World War 2. Pacific Navy combat informed everything about it. Compare it to modern space battles, created by people who have never even been in a fight much less a war, with space confetti lasers flying everywhere while doing very little.

Oh yeah, and the musical score is so tremendous that it could tell you the story in and of itself.

As a little kid, this version of Kirk might have been the first time a character on film showed me what it meant to be a man. Taking responsibility, not just owning up to your mistakes but also fixing them, looking out for the people around you. He isn't perfect, but that's the point.

They don't make 'em like this anymore. That's for damn sure.
