Star Wars general purpose movie stuff

Dont hate either choice. The stuff under Beck was really good. And Filoni at least likes Star Wars unlike Kennedy who hates it and wants to see it burn.

Almost all cartoon to live action adaptations are awful. Filoni definitely has his issues but that show was always doomed.

We gonna remake episodes 7-9?

Thin light blade sabers of the animations should have been enough to end anyone with that sad nonsense.

We should remember that nearly everyone on this thread is a middle-aged man, which means by pop culture terms, we're all old dead fossils.

Even a decade+ ago I would run into twenty-somethings that preferred the prequels over the OT due to their pacing.

Hell, I will reiterate that even out of the OT, ROTJ is deeply mediocre, a rehash of the original Star Wars plotline, except with merchandising ewoks replacing wookies. And to be honest, the pacing in Star Wars (New Hope) is very unexciting for much of the movie.

Screw the fan re-edits, someone should make the de-Marcia Lucas cut of Star Wars (or at least the Death Star / Yavin sequence) to show just how leaden the George script would have been like.

Empire however is basically without flaw.

So yeah, gun to my head, I would put it as Empire > Star Wars (entirely for nostalgia, not for quality) > Andor > The Rest of the films.

So how does this mesh with Filoni? I think if you want to make a property that could ever possibly appeal to kids again, you go with him (though maybe make a old fart division Favreau or preferably Gilroy runs where a grown up movie gets released every half decade). But if you want anything that will be remembered like Empire or Andor, it is not coming out of Flioni.

It should be someone with experience producing movies since the hiatus is winding down. Doesn't really matter though when you have an executive body in charge of story that rewrote TFA 5-6 times until it completely sucked.

I’d love to see Ep1-3 remade but fuck, at least Lucas shit his own bed that time.

Also, I’m convinced that the OT’s superiority doesn’t sink in until you’re older. Then it’s blatantly obvious. It was a more civilized time. Lots of kids loved the OT growing up. Myself included, but if you watch any of the specials about the hype - it was sci fi aimed at adults to start. Then Lucas sold a bajillion dollars in toys and then sold his soul on the PT for toys.

I never bought into Lucas's claim that Star Wars is for kids either. He didn't start claiming that until the PT criticism, which makes it a convenient self-serving statement.
