Filoni knows fucking dick and shit about producing big budget blockbusters, that which Kennedy specializes in. It's never happening.

Decent recap on the Obi-Wan cancellation.

Includes timeline of Obi-wan Disney+ series development.

For people who can't be bothered-- As of January 29th the possibility of Obi-wan Disney+ Series becoming a movie is real.

This follows the creative decision a few weeks ago to cut the series to 4 episodes.

Talks of producing and releasing an Obi-wan movie are going on now.

In light of the movie discussion occurring, this is now being termed more of a "cancellation", rather than a "rework".

Obi-wan is all but an officially cancelled project now.

Deborah Chow of Mandalorian fame would most likely stay on the project to direct the movie.

Iger said that Disney+ is the home of Star Wars right now and no movies for at least 3-4 years. Obi and the Cassian shows still coming.

No movies for at least 3-4 years is basically an admission of their failure.

Just look at the Marvel schedule for proof.

1 Star Wars movie a year was too much for Disney-- brakes were hit after Solo bombed.

I have to figure Kennedy retires within the next few months as rumored by Pinewood Studios. She'll wait 2-3 months so it doesn't seem like Disney cleaned house.

Earning report was very underwhelming. Also Star Wars "hiatus" while Marvel continues to crank full steam is plain inexcusable to shareholders. Nobody is going to understand why this IP can't make at least 1 movie a year.

Alan Horn has already had responsibility for some of Star Wars decision-making. He'll most likely continue on as the shotcaller, and all this means is Iger over-stepping Alan Horn is officially over.

The CEO of course has to sign off on the money-- but creatively, that was always supposed to be Alan Horn. Iger's involvement in creative and direct hands-on approach to Star Wars, from 2012 confirmed via JJ Abrams, likely made him a target.

On one side you have Last Jedi, Solo, Rise of Skywalker. On the other you have Rebels, Mandalorian, Clone Wars S7.

One of Bob Chapek's main achievements at Disney was the opening of the Shangai Disney Resort.... so I say send Kennedy to Shangai to promote the park's reopening after the quarantine and maybe solve two problems at once?

That was 4 minutes that could have been better served by him saying:

"Star Wars has been shit for decades. We're going to just ape off of Bioware"

It sounds like it'll have formidable bads and that is a main focus of the creative, if you listen to the final statement in that video. A premise for this series that could harken back to the OT. They've accepted that's important after the "ya mamma bitch" era.

JJ's Kylo was meant to be formidable but the studio trampled all over him and made Ren's boys clownshoes.

dude was spending crazy crazy money the last decade, if Marvel wasnt such a monstrous success, he would have been gone a long time ago. he spent like 50 billion in just the last 3 years.

Main focus was on diversity in the writers room.

Already have serious doubts.
Intentionally choosing the low ground.. it's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for them.
