Reminder that Indiana Jones 5 is a Kasdan movie.

Kasdan previously swore off working on a Star Wars movie ever again.

Then it was pushed a year to July 10, 2020, and then delayed again to July 9, 2021, when Jonathan Kasdan (son of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” scribe Lawrence Kasdan) was brought on to take a pass on the script after original screenwriter David Koepp left the project.

I'm thinking production on a lot of Iger greenlit projects are getting hosed, Disney is bleeding cash. i mentioned the other day that they spent like 80 billion in just the last few years and they are still spending like crazy with hit or miss results. over 80 billion sounds like a lot of fucking cash to spend in a short time. what did they get out of the Fox deal? x men movies? nope. Deadpool in PG 13? that old Simpsons shit which nobody watches anymore? i think they put in Cheapek to slow their fucking roll.

Bob Iger leaving because of Star Wars feels far fetched, it's too good to be true. Surely KK would be gone first.

If it's connected, it'll be him spending too much to obtain IPs which don't have immediate value and Star Wars proving those kind of acquisitions can be risky and not necessarily pay off long term.

Like buying Fox and not getting Avengers level money out of X-Men for a decade because you need to develop the IPs first.

Perhaps the board want to slow down on that until they start getting revenue from the acquisitions.

Star wars was a dormant franchise in the process of being buried. it should have stayed that way. nobody at Disney really gave a fuck about Star Wars other than that it once made money. they juiced it for all that it was worth and now Star Wars is ruined.

Disney needed new IPs w/ the coming public domain that will happen to Mickey Mouse & Co. They weren't wrong to gobble up available IPs, they just sucked at making Star Wars profitable.

The effect of public domain is overstated.

Mickey Mouse has been continuously used, so while the initial character design will become public domain, you can't for example make a Mickey Mouse cartoon where he is a magician's apprentice because Fantasia isn't in public domain. You could make him be a steamboat captain though.

One of the YouTube comic critics was looking into publishing public domain Batman in a few years, he abandoned it because repeating any Batman story, character or design still protected (so the last half century) even by accident, would be plagerism.

when was the last time anyone here or anyone here's parents paid to see a Mickey Mouse movie? Mickey Mouse is just a marketing icon for Disney. he serves no other purpose.

I did laugh at seeing "actual ending" on those boards.

They can't touch KK. The source said shes going to burn the building down if shes forced out.

They switched CEO for optics. So Chapek can ask Kennedy or prod her into retirement.

Iger wasn't in position to do that.

Iger will resume CEO or have his contract extended sometime after 2021, where he will remain as chair for a few more years.

In the meantime, she's banned from the set of the Mandalorian S2.

Its connected in so far as to put someone in position who can get rid of Kennedy without triggering poor optics or said building burning.

Except the Nightsisters of Dathomir were completely wiped out in the new canon before the New Republic era.
