Did they pay 4 billion for the m-she-u?

If the star wars movies sold 4 billion in tickets that's only 2 billion to Disney. Movie theaters get half.

And out of that 2 billion you need to subtract production and marketing costs. So what are they, less than a billion in the black? So that knocks off 1/4 of what they paid for the IP. Pretty much everything after the trilogy has lost money just like Disney's stock price.

It comes out to around 1 billion in the black-- according to industry estimates from the total box office (counting all Star Wars films). Hardly cause for a 7 year hiatus.

Star Wars was punished for 1 miss, while the MShe-U continued to release flop after flop. Everyone knew the reasons Solo failed-- it's failure was even predicted by George Lucas and Harrison Ford months in advance, and yet the plug was pulled over just one incident. An incident that they had nearly 6-8 months of advance warning on to plan around, after the Lord and Miller firing.

You're kind of answering your own question here. Corporation didn't just sporadically start hating money; it has lost enough money that they are trying to figure out how to kid-glove it back to profitability and stem the bleeding. You've seen how they treat franchises that make money, and this isn't it; that's a pretty big "aha" moment for how they've accounted for gains/losses here.

If what they show on paper doesn't match up with how they handle the franchise in real life then one of the two is off and, Corporation didn't just start hating money. It's not a single miss; this has most likely missed every swing that it has taken so far and they know that it's essentially dead, so they scrambled for Baby Yoda, which looks like another whiff. Look at what they do, not at what they say, and you get your answer.

Something else to keep in mind:
These corporations are happy to "take a loss" when it pushes their agenda. Especially when the target audience is our kids. Ensuring a whole new generation that believes men can be women, white people are inferior, etc. The "loss" is simply the cost of advertising and social manipulation. And it's not a total loss. They can claim "losses" which we pay back to them, plus donors helping them continue to push The Message.
