7 was a pallete cleanser for the prequels, it worked but had two flaws:
1) Resistance/First Order conflict wasn't set up and made no sense
2) JJ's Mystery Box bullshit setting up things with no certain payoff
They could have built on it with 8 and fixed those flaws, but Ryan Johnson hated both the Star Wars setting and Mystery Boxes, so a flawed sequel led to a franchise ending disaster.
Now the prequels are beloved because we have actual bad Star Wars movies to compare them too.
Maybe this was a long game by Lucas to raise the status of the prequels by getting shitty SJW sellout Star Wars made.

I agree entirely. As bad as they were, and they were bad, they at least were true to the Star Wars universe. These last two were just vehicles for bullshit virtue-signalling agenda. I really can't hold it against Disney for wanting to milk the franchise's titties but they chose the wrong fucking way to do it.

You are nuts. There was a ton of Mary Sue Rey bullshit and JJ played it super safe, but come on.... This is Pod Racing! Jar Jar Binks... Nooooooo!... I have the high ground.... and thats not even touching the shitfest that Attack of the Clones was. I am fine with people saying they do not like 7, but anyone saying the prequels were better than seven is either completely forgetting how they were so bad that they INVENTED the fucking internet rage machine, or just trying to be an edgelord. McGregor and MacDermid were the only things saving that from being a total shitpile. Even Natpo stunk it up bad in that trilogy.

There was zero attempts at creativity in 7. Zero. There is nothing worse than a work of fiction with no creativity behind it. It was bland and boring. At least the prequels tried.

News flash. Lucas is not creative either. Midocloreans were ripped name and all from the Parasite Eve anime manga. Episodes 1, 4 (and 7) are remakes of The Fortress. The only really ground breaking and original movie in the entire main series was mostly written and directed by someone else, unless you want to count Johnsons feminist deconstruction shitfest Ep8. Ep7 might have lacked creativity (JJ is mainly a remake magnet anyhow, so no argument from me at all), but Star Wars in the cinema has never been innovative in its storymaking, either. World building it has some legs, but the pre-quels world building was mostly comic relief droids, gungans, and Lucas preaching about "democracy" to the audience.
I will throw you a bone here and say there is one way to watch the prequels and enjoy them. If you approach them from the idea of one man coming in and driving a bunch of corrupt people and religious kooks with too much influence over the society, to replace them with a more efficient and defensible civilization, they play differently. Basically, if you watch them with Palpatine being the hero for ridding the galaxy of a corrupt government, incompetent Jedi order, and insufficient military/law and order, then they are much more entertaining. And ironically enough, the first drafts of Palpatine back in the days of Ep4 was that he was just some smart dude who knew how to use the force and played on the Sith myths to climb to power. That would have been much more interesting, but Lucas bitched out and turned him into a pure Sith cartoon rival religion bad guy instead of the potentially grey are villian he could have become.

some people prefer size and scale over anything else in a space opera.
TPM and the fuckfest that was Clones delivered in spades in those areas. Revenge of the Sith is when it got narrow for me and similar in scale and size to Episode 7.
7 doesn't have enough epic factor or scale of universe to be worth re-watching, ever. No sense of wonderment.
