That's 1k in US dollars right? That's kinda the expected price especially nowadays with how expensive everything is. But yeah you could get a better PC for that price, not in that size though. I think it kinda just got fucked with the release timing, although even without it I think they were likely aiming for 800 or somewhere around that before memory tripled in price.View attachment 631972
Not sure why we would buy this over a regular pc... other than play pc games on your couch in the living room... but then just get a steam deck...
Anyone who buys a "PC" in 2026 with only 8GB VRAM is insane.
Might be a fun project to install it on a spare drive. Seems to be reasonably possible if you have amd stuff now.SteamOS will make or break this. Curious to see a deep dive on the performance side of things, have they even shown it off yet? I honestly don't follow all of this but it has me intrigued.
16GB of RAM and 8GB of VRAM?View attachment 631972

I don't even see how this Steam Machine could play new games at 4k to the level of a ps5 etc. I feel like that is the expectation most people would have that would look at buying it. It would probably be a fine 1080 and older game system. Most people these days that would buy that are going to hook it up to a 4k TV I'm sure and I just don't see how it could possibly be competitive at this price point.
I was thinking about buying the Steam Frame when it came out but with prices going the way they are, man idk if it's going to be at a price I'm willing to pay. I'm just glad I bought a steamdeck right before the prices jumped, even if I haven't gotten around to using it yet.

LMAO. This thing is DOA in 2026.
EDIT: Holy shit, some of these are being shipped with a SINGLE 16GB stick.
