subnautica 1 was about an asian man. then subzero was about an indian chick which was then retconned in early access into being a sassy black chick. they were woke in 1 just their budget constraints preventing them from making what they wanted.
still. It was one of the best scenario/suspense/exploration games ever made. i'm super doubtful they have the talent to do it again.

Sub 2 looks like they are doubling down on Subzero type gameplay. I couldn't even finish Subzero, because they killed the vibe, suspense, and wonder of exploration that Sub 1 was packed with.
Sub 1 was one of my favorite games and right now it looks like I won't even be buying Sub 2. Sad.

Subnautica was one of the better games I've ever played and going into it blind really added to the experience. I had no idea how "deep" the game would ultimately be while I was building my first little base in the shallows area. I had to look up spoilers eventually because I hit roadblocks on finding the next areas / biomes. I was so satisfied with this game that I bought subzero as a day one purchase and immediately regretted it. I did not last 15 minutes and I never fired it up again. It went from a no dialog terror / survival type ocean game to playing as some annoying ass chick that had some stupid comment on everything that was happening. And doing it while running around on land. False advertising man.
Sub 2 would have to be not woke garbage and very highly reviewed before I'd ever give it a look.

Did you play Subnautica Subzero? They lost all the magic. I am definitely a wait and see for Sub2.

I'll wait for reviews and footage. But them making the trailer for submautica 2 being a retard looking guy Mr magooing his way around while his friends are cartoonishly off-camera-ed while he has a Pixar escape sequence....is not a good sign.
The origional was about mystery, isolation, exploration. Some dread. A sense of amplishment at going to new enviromenta. Cool vehicles.
I didn't get any of that from the trailer. The trailers faglord main character even went to the trouble of removing his (completely clear) helmet, while fleeing so we could see his fagaciousness at full mast.
At this point I think they accidentally made the first game.

Even if Sub Zero had ended up just as good as the base game, the addition of multiplayer to Subnautica 2 would instantly relegate it to a wait and see for me.
It might still end up being a fun survival game just because of how fun the water setting is, but it won't be Subnautica.
