Really? I tried, but couldn't even get into it.

Girl lives in a small village. They have no idea what exists outside of their continent, because every time they send a ship out to explore, it never returns. So they assume there are 4 magic beast leaders that guard the 4 compass directions and kill whoever passes. Some legend says someone is going to eventually kill the 4 beasts. so the continent can explore the rest of the world. I don't like this show either, so I shut it off after 10 minutes.

The only new show that I've enjoyed so far is Koujo Denka no Kateikyoushi (Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter). And I didn't even love it, just liked it enough to try another episode.

That said, Rent-a-Girlfriend continues to be exactly what I want it to be. Hopefully I'll get a chance to watch Vending Machine tomorrow, but I've shut almost everything else off early.
It's an epic fantasy story. It's not isekai. They don't "assume" the beast lords exist, they know they do because they have been fenced in long enough to have lost their maps of the world beyond their current caged in lands. Good classic anime art style. Good VAs. I didn't even realize it was a double episode until the credits rolled. Looking forward to next week.

So it really was exactly how it seemed then. Thought maybe there was more to it I missed since I hadn't watched in so long. Oh well, was still a better show than 99% of crap out there and at least it got to play out in its entirety.
The whole 'humanity wont change' post-credits shit is fucking retarded and completely flies in the face of the hopeful themes that the writer started establishing starting with Marley. The fact that the Eldians had common ground with each other through their awful lives no matter where they lived, the realization that the Marleyans really aren't any different from them, saving that baby despite the hopelessness of the rumbling, the speech from that Marleyan commander.

Nope, full on Chrono Trigger 'but the future refused to change' game over screen.

I once saw someone argue that the kid finding that hollow through exploration has very different implications than Ymir fleeing there after being hunted like an animal but I doubt the writer is capable of that kind of subtlety.

I'll give it another shot. I went in not open-minded. I did the same to Sword of the Demon Hunter last season, and I ended up liking it after I shut it off early because the dude was hitting his daughter and I assumed it was just going to be that type of show. So I'll maybe watch it for real tonight or tomorrow.

Apparently I like trash anime, because a couple of videos/lists I've seen put most of what I've watched on their trashy list. Oh well, bring on the trash!

Watching the Country Bumpkin one now and enjoying it.

Oh, and I'm a dub over sub guy. I hear that's enough to trigger a lot of people. I'll watch subs if it is good, but dubs allow me to actually watch the fucking show instead of just read the entire time. Fight me!
