I agree somewhat in that "Anime" is an art style (with lots of variation) and very rarely is it realistically drawn, so I think people have been conditioned to accept that anime characters are as they are presented in the story even if they look nothing like their real life counterparts.I'd argue that they're drawn somewhat racially ambiguous and that it's specifically paleness that is considered their ideal of beauty. I would imagine the typical Japanese person looks at the characters in a Japanese anime and sees Japanese people.
Either way Reddit is still wrong because it's Reddit.
Your traditional “anime” character is Japanese - they draw “white” people differently, as they do Chinese - it’s just not /as/ different as the differences IRL. However you are also correct that as, lets say, “detail” improves- they turn into “white” like look at Cloud in FF7, in the new cgi stuff everyone is clearly white peoples sans Barrett - and some others that are specifically Asian.
It is kinda a “whatever” kinda thing.
Fantastic Clev episode. Thanks again for telling me to watch it after I noped out on the first few minutes of the first episode.I was all set to give up on Clev if a certain thing didn't happen, but it did, so I'm in a good place now.
There's thousands of artists involved in anime, and there's no consistent style or convention across them - that's kind of why this argument shows up, in that people are often thinking of completely different styles which makes them think they people they are arguing with are batshit crazy.
Like, just think about current shows - if you ask why everyone in Dan Da Dan or Rascal looks caucasian people wonder what the fuck you are talking about, but for something like Gachiakuta or Ugly-Mug, you could get a few thoughtful nods.
All good. Some shows throw huge fucking curveballs in ep 1. Like The Elusive Samurai.Fantastic Clev episode. Thanks again for telling me to watch it after I noped out on the first few minutes of the first episode.
A mild epicanthic fold does not detract from the attractiveness of a woman imo. Anything more than mild and she looks like she has downs syndrome. Also, Asians generally dislike their eyes. Not all, but a lot. That's why they draw anime characters with giant eyes. That's also one of the reasons double lid surgery exists. So they can make their eyes look like Caucasian eyes. It's silly, IMHO. As a white dude, I love the look of my wife with her Asian eyes.

Haha, I thought it was a chick also. Girl Boss and all that.Just caught up on Clevatess. I honestly thought the dark beast's human form was female. Typical anime effeminate male stereotype. Talk about a culture that is embracing the low T lifestyle. At least the asians veer way hard into busty female stereotypes to make up for it. Well, except for when they look like 10 year olds.
Great fucking show though. I'm not gonna lie, the wet nurse chick had me feeling really fucking sad for a bit there.
Water magician is awesome, it has the right amount of chill and great animations. This season is just insane.Good episode of Water Magician this week.
The only real thing I disliked about that episode was water magician's constant smile any time he spoke with a human. Just way too many fucking smiles. Creepy.Good episode of Water Magician this week.
He just spent 20 years alone playing with a Dullahan. He's kind of broken. The only real thing I disliked about that episode was water magician's constant smile any time he spoke with a human. Just way too many fucking smiles. Creepy.
