Nice that they gave away the whole plot, most of the story beats, and all of the characters so that I don't have to watch it and learn anything for myself!

yeah thats wild the trailer pretty much seems like the entire movie lol
it seems aimed at teenage girls - cute puppy that girlboss hero has to save, AND a plucky 12 year old girl sidekick who is emo/sad so every girl sees themselves in both.
i'm surprised they made momoa dirty/gross, a k-pop kinda androgenous dude would have completed the trifecta of "appeals only to teenage girls". doesn't really matter, girls don't give a shit about paying for sports or comic book movies so DC gonna learn another expensive lesson

Pretty much sums up all modern movie trailers.
I watched the trailer for Cliffhanger (1995) the other day. The entire movie is in the trailer. I just didn’t even bother watching the movie after because it hit all the plot points. Reminds me of how T2 doesn’t show you that the T800 is not there to kill Conner until 1/2 through the movie, but they SPOIL that twist in the original movie trailer. If I was Cameron I’d be royally pissed. That’s like spoiling the ending of the sixth sense in the movie trailer. Which I’m shocked they didn’t do knowing the industry. Can’t have anyone be surprised or feeling any bit of uncomfortable emotion. We’re now living in Fahrenheit 451.

In Terminator Genysis they spoil that Conner is an evil android thing in the trailer but the film plays out like it's a huge reveal. Because as far as the film is concerned it is supposed to be.
I think the first time I really noticed a movie trailer spoiling the movie was The Sum of All Fears. The theatrical trailer for that is just the film's outline with the only hidden part being some of the nuclear explosion on American soil.

The Woman of Tomorrow comic has been out for years, and it was clear from the teaser that this was a straightforward adaptation (cut out some of the weird planets in the middle for runtime and add Lobo). You can argue that marketing spoiled the movie again, but I am unconvinced anyone that hasn't read a Woman of Tomorrow synopsis would consider themselves spoiled.
That said, yeah, this looks terrible compared to the teaser. The dialogue and editing is leaden, and the action is standard 2020s comic book movie.
I would caution you from jumping to the "Watch our movie because of sexism!" marketing angle conclusion - this seems way more like "Gen Zer offended that someone says they're not a perfect unique snowflake", at least until we see sexism defenses from the studio / other people involved.

my understanding this was the second lobo to appear in the new 52.
early predictions think it will do $400m+ worldwide, which would be a better percentage than superman 2025. there are also comparing this to 2017 and think it will do better than wonder woman 2017 and at least one thinking it could beat brand new day's domestic estimates of $500m do to girl power, wonder woman had over 50% female ticket buyers.

ButthurtComing out of infinity war, someone yelled they all died as we walked out. luckily for the new people in line the person who yelled it was far away from the line for those just going in. for the most part the people waiting to go in-as we walked out were looking at us like wtf as most people were somber/sad leaving the theatre.

We already (briefly) argued financials ~ a month ago, but I still think Supergirl will do better than people think because of one reason - scheduling.
There's 5 weeks between Supergirl and Mandalorian (not that I think that's going to be a breakout hit either) - by that point anyone who wanted to see Mandalorian will have by then, and Supergirl will be the only new action movie.
Then there's another 5 weeks between Supergirl and Spider-Man - if you want to get out of the heat and see an action movie for 30 days of July, Supergirl is the only option.
We've seen middling movies like Mufasa crawl to profitability because they are the only game in town, so unless you think Disclosure Day, Master of the Universe, and The Odyssey are going to be massive hits _to the action crowd_, Supergirl has an entire month of the peak moviegoing summer season to itself.
