I saw it.
I'm not a hater-- we were the only TWO people in the entire theater (BIG inner city IMAX theater).
What an UNEVEN film. So uneven, that, and this is not a spoiler-- but if the last scene (4 minutes?) were cut from the film entirely, it would have been 25% better!
It had its moments. But those moments were all over the place.
Bravest and weirdest thing DC ever conceived-- a NOT HOT Supergirl.
And Eve Ridley, who seemed so stupid and pathetic in the trailer, sort of carried the film.
I'm falling on the side of there was a very good movie in there somewhere, but holy shit did it get put in a blender and mixed with dogshit. People got paid enormous amounts of money to conceive this tale that is so fractured and tonally disparate that you can focus on moments only-- inspiring moments, stupid moments, ironic moments, dog-shit moments (metaphorically, Krypto eats, but doesn't actually excrete feces). Although Supergirl does urinate!
Man, I am so torn. I'm glad I saw it for the complex melange of tropes, themes, messages, stereotypes, emotions, and disjointed moralities.
I am pretty certain the goal wasn't to TRY to make a movie with more thematic potholes than any other ever made. But they did.
I give it a 5-- for all of the forces pulling it in every review scale rating (and since that is usually 0-10, every vector pushing the arrow in so many directions (but it can only slide in 2 dimensions) I end up with 5.
I was not /am not a hater for this one. I had hope. Imagine what would be defecated from Krypto after he ate a bowl of glitter... a super turd that shines at times when you look at it.
