why would I have an axe to grind with shows i've never watched/barely even heard of?
I'm sure they were the most popular shows ever on the CW which is like first place at the special olympics. Actually the CW era is basically right before the Man of Steel era, so kids who watched that prolly still relate to Snyderverse more than Reeves superman. idk i'll take your word for it that kids actually watched that shit.
The CW was the merger of the WB and UPN....UPN was the only channel out of all 3 of those actually around when I was a kid and it was the EBT channel. You know, the BET channel for those who couldnt afford cable and had to watch broadcast TV. I think it was channel 69 lol. Yeah so again, don't know anyone who actually watched that channel. WB was like, the wayans brothers and Sister, sister? Never watched either network, definitely didn't watch them when they merged. Who knew they pivoted to white people programming with a bunch of superman shows?
The point was and remains, WB abandoned superman on the big screen (IE its place of cultural relevance) for nearly 40 years, they were embarrassed by him I guess, and multiple generations of kids missed out on ever giving a shit about him. Batman (and his rogues gallery) are the only characters of any value under DC, as far as anyone in my generation or later is concerned.
