Superman Returns in the early 2000s was a literal sequel to the Reeves/70s Superman. I thought that movie was pretty underrated as far as Superman films go, Brandon Routhe did a pretty good Reeves style Superman
Super man returns deserves sperglord ire from sylas. The rest are variations in quality with superman the animated being the high mark

Superman Returns was definitely not underrated, shit was boring as fuck. The plane rescue was great but it was the only interesting thing Superman does in the entire movie. Aside from that he tanks a minigun to the eyeball (which looked stupid), picks up a yacht, and then picks up an island. The main thing I can say about Kevin Spacey is that at least he wasn't Jesse Eisenberg. Oh and surprise, Lois's son is half-Kryptonian but I guess that was just supposed to be a plot hook for a sequel because it didn't go anywhere.

For all my many complaints about Man of Steel at least he did more than lift shit in that movie.

It's generally accurate to the Donner movies. In Superman 2 he barely fights at all despite being against three other Kryptonians. He punches Non once and reflects Zod's heat vision back at him with a truck mirror, then after he tricks them into depowering themselves he crushes Zod's hand and throws him into a pit. The bruiser dude leaps into the pit not realizing he can't fly anymore and Lois slaps the chick into the pit or some shit.

The problem was thinking a movie style that did well in the late 70s early 80s would still do well in the mid 2000s in the era of movies like Blade, X-Men, The Matrix, and Nolan's Batman.

You're not the boss of me nobody tells me what deserves my ire.

Good to see that everyone in this thread now agrees with me though.

In other news it looks like this movie is heading towards complete flop.

4th place in China with 6mil box office, estimated 10mil total from china. And that's with Gunn going to China and slurping ccp cock.

I don't know if the 500mil global box office requirement for Gunn not to be fired is true, or if they will actually expect this movie to be profitable (prolly north of 700mil) but unless it has dp&wolverine like legs and runs for 3 months I don't think either is likely to happen.

Plane catch was the only decent thing about the movie, but the events that led to it were stupid. Yes! Let's launch a space shuttle off of a packed passenger airplane!

Superman was a creeper, Lois was a hoor, and the rest of the characters were nothing. None of the actors showed up for the entire filming. Story was laughably stupid.

Superman as a movie IP needs to be taken behind the barn and put out of our miseries.

Midnights edge (YouTube) said the plan is to release it on vod in either late September or October.

Superman Returns was good but it was mostly Routhe just lifting ultra heavy shit.

There was the flight in the city, almost blowing up the gas tanker, knocking one into the digital billboard on top of the building. "Care to step outside" is pretty iconic.

Didn't he pickup a gigantic island or something?
Yes. This has lex use superman crystals, just add water, and boom you get much bigger crystal. Lex stuck one inside some kryptonite and it made a huge crystal island (he's always after land) that's guy traces of kryptonite through it.

I was counting the flight in the city, that's the one punch he threw.
