Dunno, not sure if it's even still on sale. If it is they might. You might have better luck as a prime member too if you are. Just do a chat support with them. I know at xmas time I got them to sell me an xbox 360 for 79.99 by price-matching a kmart weblink that was a mis-price for an item they didn't even have in stock. Just gotta ask.Does anyone know if Amazon will price-match the Staples $329 for the Asus T100?
Thanks for the heads up on this. I was getting ready to buy a Samsung Pro 8.4, but at 400 dollars it was just too expensive. The Venue 8 Pro has the size I want while still being able to do everything I want it to, and that price is a lot more reasonable. So tempted to get the Dell Venu 8 Pro for $199 at TigerDirect (today only). I'll probably hold off, tho. I have an iPad, and I can't think of a use case for a Windows tablet.
The email said that day only, but might have been a marketing ploy. Let me know how well it works. Thanks for the heads up on this. Although, Tigerdirect is still listing it at 199.99, so I'm not sure it was only one day. Anyway, I ordered mine from Amazon yesterday because I noticed they had it for $204, and I have always had good experiences with Amazon's shipping.
How well does it run?Dell venue pro 8 WARNING, the power connector is a micro usb-b (like every device except apple) BUT it's actually a micro-A slot, so there's a tiny bit of wiggle room. Whats this mean? if you knock the connector wrong, or plug it in the wrong way it won't charge well. this happened to us (and trust me, my wife and i have tons of portable devices) basically the pro8 wouldn't charge, i took a flashlight to the connector and could see a gold pin offset... (this was after being fustrated with dells annoying indian tech support). Got a new one, so far no issues.
Ive had one since mid Dec and love it. I can use it for netflix/full desktop web browsing, office/programming, and gaming I play a lot of indie and 2d games, and even some Walking Dead, Skyrim, Rayman, GW2, Torchlight 2, and Diablo 3 on it. It also runs WoW at native res, low settings, at about 40fps in towns, and SWToR and Wildstar both run around 25 30fps. It's definitely a little powerhouse. Make sure you grab a 64gb microsd as well. It's like an extra hard drive in there. How well does it run?
You can't charge the tablet when using those cables. I'm typing this on the unit now. I think this screen size is too small for desktop mode. The tap targets are too small. The stylus looks like a must-have.you can get a micro usb-b to usb a adapter for it, like a bucks on amazon, i have one on order. i plan to take this tablet (and ipad) to japan (sans any laptop) so i'm gonna pair it up with a wd passport drive to d/l our photos/vids.
I agree on the 11 inch > 8. Check out the Asus T100 that was posted a few pages back and see if thats more up your alley. It's 10 inch that comes with a keyboard/touchpad dock that detaches and runs around $350-400 range. I think Springbok bought one and did a little review on it. Hey may be able to tell you more about it than I can.Overall, I think the Venue 8 Pro works well. With that said, I am going to return it. I recognize the awesomeness of full Windows on a tablet, and being able to use Chrome with all the extensions, but the screen is to small for how I want to use it. There's just not enough real estate for split screen mode. I will consider the 11 inch model, but that's a $300 price increase.
I was looking at the Dell dock for the 11 inch model. It has a couple video out ports on it. I can't seem to find out what the max resolution output it supports. I couldn't find anything on Google. In most cases, it wouldn't be a big deal, but one of my monitors runs at 2560x1440.
