yea like the guy said above, technically it's because TAKP is the server the TLP cycle will get merged into (kind of like the p99 blue/green thing that never happened), and in TAKP's case there were no manastones and guises. Well there are guises but they are handed out during anniversary event quests, so it seemed like a bad idea to have them from the TLP in the eventual merge. The manastone isnt a huge deal imo. I'm not sure their stance on some kunark legacy items, since they allow some for classic. Technically you can transfer to TAKP if you're over the TLP and go straight to PoP era.
It is a shame because TAKP supports a real EQ classic client and the server code is much better than eqemu and p99. Most of the hard core mechanics like spell resists and combat came from Torven who spent years doing it. A lot of this stuff is now in eqemu though or helped them update their versions. Guess I just feel bad for the TAKP and TLP devs because their selfless efforts (open sourcing it) got shafted hard by Quarm's success. But I agree, TAKP devs have shot themselves in the foot with some decisions.
