I play on a 3" plasma so I sit a few micrometers away personally.
But seriously its a silly complaint, I agree testing my phone which is larger and brighter with its flashlight app running in a pitch room - took under 1 ft to show on my 51" plasma that's reflective enough to use for a mirror when the room is lit for my hair.
Additionally they presume its perma-on at that controller designation isn't info that needs to be perma-on

I love my games and certainly don't care if the console is in the $3-500 range but I still won't buy until I see a killer app to go with it.
PS3 was a nicely functional bluray player at launch and remains a handy streaming box that occasionally has an exclusive game. I've honestly played only a dozen titles on it having bought at launch and still feel like I got great value out of the thing even including the HD I stuck in there. PS4? I'd need to see either an extra reason or a damned impressive exclusive game to buy it day one. Eventually? Well, sure.

I think the PS4 won't include anything to stop it, but they won't prevent publishers from their own "solution"

It will enable a surge in PC development too of course. Which will be nice.
Anyway. Expect low box cost. But $$ for online services.
And in the end the "winner" of this gen will be the one with the best online services.

Yeah i dont think there is any way that they cant not subsidize the thing and really monetize thier PS World thinger. I tend to enjoy the MS/Westernized exclusives and ended up picking up most multiplatform stuff on the 360 this gen, but this has me interested to say the least.
At the end of the day, i hope MS really pulls out the stops and goes nuts because healthy competition is ultimately the only thing that benefits the consumer.

No idea how they can say your existing saves wont be usable but we can eventually play PS3 games over that cloud system.

Actually reading it - its the old no emulation for PS3 info repackaged with a headline to grab views. Even contradicts the headline within the article with the plans to emulate everything via streaming from PS3 mentioned.
Considering they're talking about MORE PSN integration the first half makes zero sense.

Which again, read the last sentence... the rood article implies nothing ever with their feet in the ground from headline and leadin. Not "we want them to work in some form" or "emulation via streaming" as has been factually stated.
If I can play a PS3 game by popping it in and it runs completely via stream instead of local hardware the ability is still there.
The factual statement they've been making is the system won't run PS3 stuff solo unadjusted. But streaming and adjusting code are options.

I dont see why putting emulation in these things is so hard- that hardware should be able to emulate PS1-2 EASY and even PS3...
While at work today setting up some stuff for an event and people where geeking out and how the 360 lets you play everything... oh but halo1... because ... let me quote his reason for why halo 1 was not supported on 360 backwards compatable "Its graphix where too weak" WTF DOES THAT MEAN?! no the real reason was is to sell you the remake HD version of Halo 1 they came out with...
All that said I still love my 60gig PS3 with hardware BC and it wont be going anywhere.

It's good but the GTAIV one is much better because it's high resolution and doesn't hide low resolution textures behind a bunch of blurry bullshit.
So let me get this straight. People think a 529 pricepoint is to much? People run out and drop 600 on the lastest iphone every year or whatever must have smartphone but this console price is a deal breaker? Dont think so

Its all about people and their justification of such things... Phones have wiggled their way into many minds and pocketbooks as a need and they do "so many things" and I "use it all the time" that they justify it faster than "a VIDEO GAME machine" its just for kids and that dumb ignorant husband to sit there and do nothing for hours- I aint paying for that!
I have 2 PS3s that are 97% Netflix/BluRay and some media server- a 60gig classic BC PS3 and a 120gig PS3 slim- at one point I had some other bluray and streamer in my room and my wife hated the thing and was happy to put the PS3 back- its the best bluray player you can get, and with wifi etc its not that much more than a "nice" standalone bluray.

lol. I love when people take this retarded fucking appraoch and claim they have multiple PS3's yet they only use them to watch/stream movies. Really? You spent money on more than 1 PS3 so you and your wife can stream movies? Seriously, its the most retarded fucking stance on PS3 EVER. Buy a fucking laptop you cheap fuck, and hdmi the bitch to your TV. I dont understand the PS3 hate when it comes to evaluating it as a gaming machine. The Blu-ray capability is just an added convenience. The PS3 was and is a successful gaming system, period.

I do not need backwards compatibility, people always talk of BC on consoles... i can not ever think of a time where i said.. ohh, i want to play that PS1 game on my PS3... or even a PS2 game on my PS3, just never happened yet. Maybe you guys like to play those old game again, i just don't get it. I get a new system and i get the new games for it. I think people complain about BC because in theory you are still playing your PS3 games and think you want to play them when you get your PS4?? ummm my PS3 and my PS4 will be hooked up to the same TV, compatibility issue solved.
PSN titles that wont transfer is annoying, but from a technical view, it makes perfect sense.. the architecture is so different that the games won't run properly... take Kings Quest 1 for an old 486 and put it on just a first generation Pentium computer (i did this btw) sure it ran, but man, it was just not right... same here for PS4... I think what should happen is that Devs should work to convert their games if they so see fit to do it for the PS4 architecture, then Sony should check if you owned the game, and if so, the new version should be avail to you for free or at a hugely discounted price....
