Eyeing that PS4 Spiderman deal for Black Friday. Still worthwhile getting the console or just wait for next gen? Do most of my gaming on PC, but there's several games on PS4 that I've always wanted to play.

There's literally no reason to wait for next-gen as we have no idea what it will involve. We do know right now that this PS generation is fantastic and has many awesome games that are must-plays (even for PC gamers). I mean, if we somehow knew that PS5 would be backwards compatible with PS4, than an argument could be made to wait, but we don't.

On the flipside, buying a PS4 once the PS5 has been announced/released will be cheaper than buying it now, even if there's no BC. Although this might take a while so not sure it's worth waiting unless you're in really no hurry(as in you don't care about waiting until 2020).

It seems pretty nice since you can move the d-pad and thumb sticks to your own liking, set the triggers to hair triggers, and map out dead zones.

yeah i bought the scuf vantage (also $199) and it was a complete piece of shit that didn't work, had to return it at gamestop 4 days later so now i'm kinda gun shy of buying another expensive ps4 third party controller

Was my line of thought as well. I wavered on dishing out more for the PS4 Pro versus the Slim deal that's coming up, but from everything I've read so far, it seems that while the Pro is a nice upgrade, it's not miles ahead of the standard edition. Plus I don't have a 4k or HDR tv to really take advantage of the Pro.

Also, the current rumors are that we'll see PS5 in 2020, which when you factor in waiting 2-3 years for that to settle into itself, then you'll be able to get a good chunk of years out of a PS4.

I don't think we'll even get the PS5 announcement until the 25th anniversary of the release of the PS1 on 12/3/19 and barring a shockingly early release date for Xbox 2, won't see PS5s on shelves for nearly two years still.

You'll have plenty of time to get through all the PS4 releases if you pick up a Black Friday bundle next week.

4K/60 stable
Small reveal mid 2019, Big one at psx, Plans might change though
Only thing i can tell right now for specs is Ryzen 8 core, Price is 500$
PS VR 2 on the other hand will have no breaker box this time around it’ll be inside the console
Has a Camera (DS5 is going to have that too)
New Ps move controllers
They are also testing some gloves to go with the vr

Asked about potential launch games:
Tlou 2, Death Stranding, That samurai game (sekiro? that launches feb 2019 tho)

Release date:
It’s either March or November, Not confirmed which one it’ll be
It’s coming out in 2020. They want March 2020 but might get pushed to November 2020

So buying a PS4 this holiday season is a pretty safe bet, your hardware is good for at least 18 months and potentially 24 months.

I find 4k60 stable to be highly suspect. That's 1080ti/2080 territory which costs significantly more than that $500 price point, and that's just for the GPU.

Edit: I could see it certainly being a thing with a pro/elite version as that would probably be a few years after release, and that sort of performance would be doable for the price at that time.

Also, they better put a 4k blueray drive in this one

I agree, I doubt very much it'll be 4k/60 stable unless they use an adaptive resolution constantly. Not for $500 anyway.
