Amazon is currently holding a Facebook vote to say which is your console of choice and, at time of writing, the PS4 is beating the Xbox One by over 17 times - 14,479 vs 884. The vote continues for a week, and you can check on its progress/vote here.

Meanwhile, the launch-guaranteed version of the PS4 has sold out on Amazon, but still remains as the no.1 best selling gaming product. The listing reads:

The standard version of the PlayStation 4 is identical to the Launch Edition. Due to high demand, we cannot guarantee Release-Date Delivery on the standard version of the PlayStation 4. We will deliver the standard version of PlayStation 4 as close to its release date as possible.

The non-launch guaranteed PS4, or 'standard version', has raced up to number 3 in best sales, and will presumably soon overtake the Launch Edition which can no longer be bought. The Xbox One, however, has remained at number 2, showing that there is still some demand for it, albeit not as much as for the PS4.
And I got the email saying I preordered a launch ps4, as well.

Seems like it was the smart thing to do to preorder one as soon as the Sony E3 event ended.

I agree that a lot of the graphics on the consoles have kind of capped, but a lot changes based on what TV you push the console through. We recently upgraded to a 50" plasma / Smart tv, and it took me two days to get used to the changes from visual to motion. (I had over steering problems in every game I played after the upgrade)

Ok, so whoever said our poll doesn't represent the market was right. The general Facespace population is only 17x more likely to buy a PS4 as opposed to the Rerolled population (20x).
3% isn't a big swing, Amazon's sample set is larger and less biased towards the core gamer demographic so I'd say both are fairly accurate representations, the core gamers are just 3% more enthusiastic for the PS4 than the Amazon customer base

Most of the graphical upgrades for this generation of gaming are going to be things like better lighting and physics. There's only so much you can do with polygons and textures that makes a visible difference when you are limited to a 1080p resolution on TVs.

On the dual shock vs Xbox controller thing, I've never understood the problem with the analog stick location
The PS controller just doesn't make logical sense. The two primary functions are the left analog stick and the right face buttons. It doesn't make sense to have one primary function in one position and the other in a different position. If their placement of the left analog stick was ideal, you'd think they'd put the face buttons in the same position on the other side. It's basically just a left over design relic from when the d-pad was primary use rather than the left analog stick, which they refuse to change.

I was being sarcastic. Also where are you getting a 3% swing?
Dude I got up way to early this morning and I've been rebuilding my wife's pc today, my brain is completely fucking broken right now. I don't even know what I was thinking when I typed that reply.

20-17! Yeah, getting 3% from that makes no sense at all, heh.
I meant 3 points, not 3%. Dunno why I put the % in there. My error.

You guys thinking that games won't look visually better this gen are blind.
I disagree. I think the opposite is true: by the time the generation after the Xbone/PS4 is out, digital vendors like Steam and Amazon will be required to support the transfer of digital goods. If nothing else the recent European Court ruling means they will have to do that for Europe anyway. As more US consumers move to digital media you'll see a push for similar rights here.
If that's true then I agree with you. But I can't imagine any media service allow the trading/giving of 'used' digital content. Do any of the media stores allow this?

Amazon allows you to loan a book out once, but that's about it. It's definitely not something that digital providers are in a hurry to implement now, I just think that at some point they will have to due to changes in law and consumer pressure. It's pretty much a prediction I pulled out of my ass though, so who the hell knows what will happen. If I'm wrong you can quote this in the 2020 PS5 thread.

"This is a big change, consumers don't always love change, and there's a lot of education we have to provide to make sure that people understand," he said.
We just need to be educated.

In 2019 Rerolled will be destroyed by a league of tranny xbronies. There will however be a new forum where we will all complain about the '20'ers.

Seriously though you are correct about the laws in Europe changing to enable digital rights transfers. Its only a matter of time before its fully implemented there; and the political and economic weight of the E.U. is nothing to scoff at. It'll take longer to take effect over here in the States and the rest of the world, but once consumers see the rights Europeans enjoy on the matter, they will accept nothing less.

Apple, Google, Steam or any of the other players may resist with all their might but they'll just become the new CableTV / Record Companies, etc. If they don't adapt a new company will come in and be tne new iTunes, etc.
