I've never actually used a XIM but it's apparently the only adapter that actually solves the problem of emulated joystick input having dead zones and massive acceleration curves.

Ironically, the PC ports of some games like Dead Space 1, Duke Nukem and Alice: Madness Returns the mouse actually emulated a joystick in the same way the cheaper console adapters do. aka, dead zones, acceleration, slower up/down movement than left/right, and unplayable dogshit mouse control. I don't have a clue why the fuck they did that but I suffered through DS1 and deleted the other games mentioned.

Sure, its basically cheating in FPS, but the way modern FPS are made you can rack up kills by holding down the trigger with your eyes closed anyway. Even I had some top games when playing BLOPS with my xbros for the first time the other night, despite needing my target to basically walk into my crosshairs for me. The xbros claim the top console players are "just as good as mouse & keyboard" yet when I watch them I think "if I aimed that slowly on PC, I'd only ever kill people who were facing the other direction"

Hell, even pulling the trigger takes longer when you have those giant analog triggers made to emulate a gas pedal.

Of course the keyboard and mouse is supported. The PS4 uses USB so long as the game is set up to correctly read input from a kbm attached to the USB ports you're good to go. Hell I even used keyboard and mouse way back on the PS2 for Dirge of Cerberus. Most games just don't support it for obvious reasons.

These guys just arent aware of what gamers want anymore.

Today, Xbox president of interactive entertainment Don Mattrick addressed the cost discrepancy. "We're over-delivering value against other choices," Mattrick said in a conversation with Bloomberg TV. "$499 isn't a ridiculous price point. We're delivering thousands of dollars of value to people."

The conversation moved on after that, and Mattrick didn't go into detail about where the additional value was being generated. It would be unsurprising to learn that the Xbox One manufacturing expenses are more than $499 per unit. Video game hardware is typically a loss leader, with licensing fees for software making up the difference over time. We'd be interested to hear more about the valuation, as Mattrick's "thousands of dollars" seems high.

Game Informer has received word that EA has orchestrated another round of layoffs. This time, the company made cuts to its internal analysis and reviews team.

Does aim assist still function with the XIM? Because that sounds like it would be hilariously unfair.

So looking at the non PC console exclusives - when is the price of the Nvidia 770/780 projected to level off? Hold off until Christmas?
If you're buying computer parts, you won't find anything cheaper than right around Black Friday. I built an entire new PC last year at the end of November, and I still haven't seen most of the parts cheaper to this point, 7-8 months later. The CPU, Motherboard, RAM, SSD, and case that I bought have yet to be sold for any cheaper anywhere on the internet than the crazy sales last black friday. I've got a friend who wants to build the same PC I have, and it's about 20% more expensive at any point that we've tried to piece it together in the last several months.

Aim assist would actually hurt more than help. It seems to function as a firing cone, even if you are pointing right at your target. Depends on the game, I'm sure. (some games I'm told just slow your turning down when the reticule is near a target - still probably hurts more than it helps)

Hell, Doom2 had aim assist that you couldn't turn off and it frequently caused rocket launcher suicides by flinging your shot off to the side or down into the floor.

What a mouse vs gamepad sheep might look like: (no idea if its staged)

Oh, and what could really be annoying for the mouse on consoles is how ADS drastically reduces sensitivity. High sensitivity for movement, low sensitivity while aiming. That's why every shooter made has to have fucking ADS now. PC versions either don't have that slowdown at all or it's not nearly as drastic, so that shit would take some getting used to.

I hate to make 3 straight posts, but xbro linked me:

Basically, the same bullshit fluff about the magic cloud ("offloading AI" when that barely takes up any CPU power to begin with - you have 6 CPU cores for games, what the fuck are those going to be doing? PC games are barely taking advantage of > 2 cores as it is because almost nothing that takes up a lot of CPU can even be split up anyway)

But more importantly, it seems they are confirming that xbone is providing dedicated servers for everything. No dogshit peer to peer. Or it could just be terrible reporting, because you would think MS would just come out and say that, given how big a deal it is for a lot of people. (Halo will have them for the first time ever, I believe) Plus, you'd think the COD people would bring it up, since COD players jerk themselves to sleep every night dreaming of dedicated.

Anyway, xbros convinced that XBone = Dedicated servers for everything for free.

It did sound like they are providing dedicated servers but I assume Sony will do the same now that you have to pay for plus. And by offloading AI I think that means that the bots will run on the server side.

Studio founder Vince Zampella explained to IGN that neither EA nor Respawn initially planned to go exclusive with Microsoft, but the advantage that its hardware provides was too appealing to pass up. "It allowed us to think of the game a little differently," he said.
Even the article doesn't know wtf it wants to say. It talks about them not planning to go exclusive, takes some out of context quote, and then talks about cross-platform play. So umm... they weren't planning on going exclusive, and still didn't.

Didn't Sony already provide dedicated servers for the PS3? For some reason I thought they did.

For a system that revolves almost entirely on digital games, getting banned could potentially cost you thousands.

Sure... until you jump back in a time machine 5 days when we had that discussion, realize that tweet was about the Xbox 360, and then realize that MS has already said you'll keep access to your games even if you get banned from Xbone.

It seems pretty obvious that Titanfall will be coming to ps4 at some point as well anyways. Their lead artist has basically said as much

Dunno if had been posted already or not:

Somehow, i feel 100% certain MS will try to fuck you anyways.

Edit - So you are banned from XBL but your games are accessible, but you cannot play any of the online ones due to being banned from XBL - and since most of these games are built UPON THE CLOUD!!!!(echo x4) you're still pretty fucked anyways no?

(BTW: This is legitimately what the autofill for each does right now (besides on extra "The Xbox One is not backwards compatible" for Google that comes up now - THIS IS NOT A SHOOP although it is a day or two old thus the one new entry)
