Im not really up to par on the details of NFL contracts, but what happens to the rookies' pay, like Fowler, who tear an ACL and are done for the season so early? Is there some clause in contracts for injury pay, or what?

NFL contracts are slot based and they sign a protective waiver before they do minicamps if they are unsigned. It won't cost him anything outside of performance incentives for in season production.

Unsigned draft choices participating in minicamp sign an injury protection waiver. If there is an injury, the team will continue to negotiate in good faith as if the player were not injured.
