The "what fans are saying" is always the best part of those.

Less than a month from the first preseason game. I always get amped for football and watch maybe the first quarter of the first preseason game and then I remember how much preseason sucks.
But where else will you see Margus Hunt get playtime against 5th string scrubs, tear it up and be crowned king of the DL by /r/bengals?

Ahhh yes. The same crowd that would have you believe Dane Sanzenbacher is totally legit.

Ever since the last time they expanded the playoffs, I've thought there should be a special provision about needing a winning record to qualify. Sort of like what college does with bowl games. So for last year, they could have picked the team with the next best record to take that spot. I'd even go so far as to say that if another NFC team didn't have a winning record, an AFC team should have been thrown in there.

At the very least they can do seeding based on record while still keeping the 4 + 2 format. Pretty shitty when the Lions and Cards both went 11-5 last year and the Panthers with a mighty 7-9 record in the worst division ever (and I'm saying this as a Bucs fan, so I know!) get the 4th seed over them.

Edit: Sorry, the Panthers were 7-8-1
Yeah they really need to address that somehow. Maybe a.500 rule or something. The league is setup for parity so it's amazing entire divisions can suck so much ass regularly.

I like the division system better, but I understand the complaint. If you want to make it record based then no halfassing, either top six teams from each conference seeded by records/tiebreakers, or stick with the currrent divisional system. Giving three teams a divisional crown but not the fourth because someone else has more wins would be fucking terrible.

It obviously comes up more now with 4 divisions instead of 3. Still don't think it's really a big deal.
When your league has 32 teams and they each only play 13 other teams per season, you really do need something like the current set up where you're compared based on common opponents

Yeah the strength of schedule problem would only be worse if you didn't have the division and common intra-divisional matches for each group. It doesn't matter though, they aren't going to change it. What they ARE going to do is expand the playoffs. More wildcards, bank on it. Its coming.

To be clear, under my proposal the 7-8-1 team would still get the division title. They just wouldn't make the playoffs.

If playoffs were that way, the Pats would have made playoffs that one year they missed when they went 11-5. That right there makes that a horrible idea.

I'm fine with that. I'd like the season to be much longer, with more games and more time off for teams. Run that shit well into spring for all I care.

They were talking about this on the morning show I listen to. The basic takeaway was, "How could this possible go wrong?"

I felt like it was getting kind of stale and meh so far this year, which could as likely have just been me due to reading them all year after year. But fucking hell, Redskins entry knocked it out of the park, lol.

Why Your Team Sucks 2015: Washington Redskins
That one is harsh because it's so true. Especially this shit with McCloughan. Redskins fans eat that shit up. Every year the season ends and people are ready to throw in the towel. 2 months later and another savior comes and everyone thinks it's finally our year.

At one point I thought Redskins fans were some of the more realistic and level headed fans in the league. They sure showed me...
