I hope they get this chick to sing some of the songs for the sound track to this.
You might get your wish - after a little *ahem* healthy internet stalking, I found this on her website:

In March, I will be joining the Elder Scrolls Online team at SXSW for the first stop of the ESO Food Truck Tour! If you?re attending this event, please stop by to say hi.
smile.png
A big hug from Mexico. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity! It wouldn?t have happened without your support and your encouragement.
Here?s the official press release that also lists additional dates and cities where the food truck will be heading afterwards!
So they are at the very least aware of her...

After watching the gameplay trailer again I cannot get over the fucking art direction. Who decided cartoon graphics was a good idea for an elder scrolls game? Fire this fucking person.
I sort of feel like they may have been influenced by WoW's success. That game plays on every computer I've ever touched, at least to some extent. They probably just want to make sure the "casuals" have a spot in their game.

In one of their Q&A's after the initial reveal/shitstorm, they specifically said they went with a cartoon / non-realistic artstyle in order for the graphics to be playable on old computers. In their words "sacrifices and tradeoffs had to be made". Of course, I'd take this with a grain of salt as this is also coming from the dev team which said, and I quote "Player housing in an MMO is too hard."

Kind of on topic interview that I just saw:

http://tamrielfoundry.com/2013/03/interview-dan-dunham/

TF:You guys made the call early on in the development process to develop an entirely new game engine for ESO. What were some of the shortcomings of existing licensable engines that inspired this decision? Can you mention any features that became cornerstone objectives in terms of functionality for the new engine? Also, have you named it yet?

DD:Creating an MMO engine is different than many games: the lifespan of code we write is measured in decades. We did license portions as building blocks, but to make sure we could grow and support the game on that time scale, our engineering team built the essence of the engine together over the last few years, and we?ll continue to grow it in response to players for many years to come.

On the client, our core objective was to build an engine that would run great from exploring a dungeon solo, all the way to a battle with hundreds of characters on screen at the same time. On the server, we set out to build a massively scalable MegaServer infrastructure.

For a name? well, we just call it ESO. It grows and changes as the game needs, every day.
While he doesn't openly deny that they are making an "entirely new game engine," he does say, "We did license portions as building blocks..." I have to admit that this sounds a bit shifty. What did they license, I wonder?

One thing is for sure, if you read this interview, they are insisting that the game will support 200 people on screen with optimal FPS and that you can have more with a gradual decrease in performance. You have to admit that this doesn't sound like Hero Engine.

TF:For gaming enthusiasts who own cutting edge hardware, can you talk about what the ESO engine does to take advantage of multiple-core CPUs or linked graphics cards on Crossfire or SLI? Is it correct that ESO has full DirectX 11 support?

DD:On Windows Vista, 7, and 8, we have a full Direct X 11 renderer. It was critical for us to have an engine that could grow and support the latest features, and that anyone with modern machines would get the best possible performance even on launch day.

Massive alliance war battles get a big boost from multiple cores ? there is a ton of CPU work to deal with that much action. On the graphics hardware front, we work very closely with both nVidia and ATI on supporting their high-end parts.
Also some very good news, imo. I'll never forget logging into SWTOR and my options were something like "Low, Med, High" and I would see absolutely no difference between the three settings.

It's Hero Engine. I can absolutely 100% guarantee you of this. The thing is they did the same thing that Bioware Ausin did, and that is build around a very small base of it for more control. They just don't want anyone to know it because Hero Engine gets a bad name. In actuality, it's been through revisions and dependant on how it is built upon, could do exactly that. (Support 200) plus the server infrastructure capabilities are shown with SWTOR's super servers. They just took it one step further. Bethesda said the same thing about the Creation Engine for Skyrim. "BRAND NEW ENGINE" when the majority of the base is still Gamebryo and even has that listed in the ini files still. Honestly at this point they should just shut up and be transparent if they know what is good for them. After SWTOR, everyone following these games is really growing tired of the fluff. Even the answers in this interview are not answers. Supposedly 2 weeks away from sectioned weekend betas and this is the best they can offer up since 2006?

If I had any advice for these guys, I would say it's time to start laying down the cards here unless their entire goal is to play box sell protection until launch to recoup all their lost dev costs knowing the game is going to tank. (Which is usually the case here. In Fact, I have not seen one instance in this particular genre when it isn't)

Yep, Cant wait till beta starts we can confirm its Hero engine, main question will be is Alpha Hero engine like Swtor used or is it the beta hero engine, or is it regular hero engine as it should been, it wont be hero engine 2, that is to new this MMO they been working on for 7 years now and some.

Its the we used hero engine as White board spin all over again, then later it be well its not hero engine cause we added 100000000000000000 zillion lines of code to it, rofl.

AS said Yugo car is still Yugo car dont care if add Nitrious kit to it, or Turbo whatever you see my point.

This is just annoying. At what point do you keep dumbing down your game so casuals can play and where do you draw the line and say, "You need this and this or fuck you"?. EQ did it with a graphics card. They did it again somewhat with the Shadows of Luclin expansion. Make the fucking game you want to make or don't make it at all. At this point every MMO is going to be 10 years old looking so every 52 year old deadbeat housewife can play. God forbid if you have to upgrade your PC for $500 every 6 or so years. I mean it's an expensive hobby. Deal with it.

Dude you have to be a shill, no normal person post like that. You start out with a possible negative, to seem like you are seeing our side, but not really calling it a negative. Then post a big positive about even if the negative is true, it's gonna be awesome! lol Deny all you want but you sure as hell write like one.

Oh, you caught me! I am a rational human being who can see two sides to an argument. I know, it's a rare sight in the internets, but we do exist. I spent a bit more time on the positive cause I'm still hopeful about this game, despite Utnayan's serial negativity and Aleksei's comic obsession with HE alphas and betas.

After watching this, I have but one question to ask. How the fuck do people as base, lowly, and illiterate as Firor or the rest of this development crew get jobs managing and producing a multi hundred million dollar project? Their gameplay presentation/trailer was shoddy and almost painful to watch, and did absolutely nothing to speak to their game's supposed strengths. If they can't produce a video that I can endure for a few minutes using material and assets that they've been supposedly working on for the better part of a decade, then what hope is there that their game is worth a shit?

Firor even says, "By far the worst experience in an online game is at launch, at the server select, when you can't find your friends, and your friends can't find you."

NO! The worst experience in an online game is realizing you just paid $50 for software that isn't the least bit redeemable, does nothing to separate itself from its predecessors from which it was shamelessly copied, and that there are millions of lines of code whos execution has been mismanaged to the point as to delete any possibility of even the remote amount of enjoyment being derived.

And at the end he goes on, "With a game the size of TESO it's really hard in ONE demo, in ONE presentation, ONE video to list everything about the game, so what you've heard today are the basics. Over time we'll go into more depth... all of these elements will come together to make Elder Scrolls Online the next "epic" RPG."

So you made me sit through a ten minute video, of which 90% is the Skyim soundtrack laid over graphics that are completely and wholly reminiscent of a medieval looking version of Team Fortress 2, with literally less than a minute of voice and then at the end you have the balls to tell me that the reason that this video sucked so much, and that we've yet to learn anything meaningful about the game even after ten fucking minutes of bullshit, is that because a ten minute video isn't long enough to even go over the base features for a game that has spent a time almost as long as the Bush presidency in development?

This dude's stupidity insults my intelligence. What do the longstanding employees of Bethesda think of Matt and Zenimaxonline shitting all over their intellectual property?

I'll tell you what, Woolygimp, when I first saw that video last November, I was okay with it. I even thought it seemed okay. The main reason being that they promised lots more videos and information. They haven't really delivered on that, though. I mean there has been ZERO new gameplay footage released and its been 5 months. I've been a pretty diehard supporter, but looking with an objective eye, I have begun to develop some serious misgivings.

I'm just hoping that they are playing a lot of shit close to the chest cause that's the way Bethesda does things. You don't really see a lot about ES games until they are about ready to release. Maybe as the convention season ramps up they are gonna dump all kinds of info on us, and really surprise us with the quality of things. Well, it's a thought anyway, but I have to admit, they've been way too skimpy on the details. I could forgive it last summer, and overlook it as the year wound down, but here we are 3 months into the release year, and they are still being tight assed with the info.

I am sure Blackwulf will find a redeeming quality in that video though.

These guys are spin doctors looking to recoup sunk development costs at this point. Nothing more, nothing less.

Don't worry, I am sure once this tanks Firor will find another job because the game shipped and we can watch this happen all over again, ala Rich Vogel.

It's truly amazing.

Edit: Oh God.

Blackwulf, they are skimpy on the details because they are in development hell and have no idea what will actually make it into the game. With that said, Bethesda can be like that with their games, sine they have released 3 wildly successful titles in a row and have earned that right. It is also a completely different genre, and as stated, if Bethesda does this, I actually have faith in them because they have launched fun title after fun title including expansions and some pretty fantastic DLC content. This is Matt Firor and Paul Sage. The relic idiot kings of this MMORPG generation in a game in development since 2006 with 3 stop starts and about 15 interviews where they cannot address the most basic of questions with a straight answer.

Eh, at this point I'm just hoping for the best. Unless people play the beta and say it is terrible, I'll probably buy it. I'm jonesing for a new MMO. I've not really spent significant time in one for years now. I can tell I'm losing hope though, cause I'm starting to read about Camelot Unchained and EQ Next with a bit of a glimmer of interest. LOL such a sad cycle - get excited about a new release, follow it for a while, realize it sucks, move on, hoping the next game isn't shit. Well, the jury is still out on TESO, but yeah, starting to lose a bit of excitement.

I think the game will be fairly solid by today's MMO standards. It might even be fun here and there (here's hoping). But no question the potential of the Elder Scrolls IP (with its budget) has been massively squandered. This is the real shame, IMO.

My favorite was Hellgate London offering the lifetime subscription fee for 200 bucks. Nothing screams "We have no faith in our product, let's see how many gullible fucks we can snake with this shit" like a lifetime sub.

I wonder how long it will be befoire this payment option is made available to the public. As seen, I think if you see a lifetime sub anywhere on the box, it means the publisher is planning on free to play within a year, and after having made that $200 extra, giving away little trinkets to make sure the people that bought it don't feel screwed. Lifetime subs. The biggest scam of the genre. I still cannot believe anyone bought these.

What really scares me about this is that I'm afraid that a massive failure of this game will somehow give them reason to say "People just aren't interested in Elder Scrolls anymore". You know, sort of like how Square-Enix say people aren't interested in traditional RPG's any longer.

Nope, look at Skrym sales, look at Fallout NV sales etc... Those single player games are not going anywhere. But maybe this game finally puts the nail in the coffin for wow clones and finally drive some real innovation in this genre which has been pretty much stuck in 2004ville.
