Bethesda will sell boxes and recoup their initial investment. The brand name is a juggernaut, and they have the console kids on their side.

What they won't get back is their reputation if this releases in as bad a form as it was when I last played it.

Yeah, I'm calling BS on that one. They need millions of box sales and a retention rate that doesn't abandon the game in a month. This is going to be a bomb of epic proportions and no IP is going to save it. Zenimax is going to have fun recovering from this.

Found some interesting stats about Skyrim. How many of these 20 million gamers read neogaf/mmorpg.com/ign/whatever and will base their decision to buy based on a review?

Skyrim units sold in the first 48 hours 3.5 million
Skyrim units sold in the first week release 7 million
Skyrim sales in the first week of release $450 million
Total Skyrim units sold 20,270,000
Total Skyrim sales revenue $1,290,000,000

P.S. Shit got at least 28% more boring here without internets. Fact.

Even if they don't read about games on the Internet, their friends will surely let them know how shit the game is. Let's be real, though. I think the audience interested in an online game is far more prone to check for information about a potential purchase.

This game has none of the hype or good word of mouth that Skyrim did. It won't get near the same kind of sales.

Well if someone at Pawnstop says it, it's probably legit! I think the game will do well from the IP alone. Every MMO has been enjoyable for me just for the opening few months with that new mmo smell. Retaining that playerbase after 3 plus months is a different story.
