Not even worth it for free. Don't know how this game hasn't collapsed yet.I gave this a try over the free weekend....meh.
Gonna go back to wow classic for a month or two to scratch the mmo itch.

FFXIV has always had a big PS crew and was built for it as well as PC, so xbox folks will probably do just fine.Because it was one of, I wanna say, 2 MMO's on Xbox prior to FFXIV going to Xbox. That's the reason as I understood it when I asked the same question years ago.
The only other MMO wasn't even really an MMO if I recall. It would be interesting to see what market share FFXIV takes away from it. Granted I think playing any MMO, much less a keyspam MMO, on a console would be aids.
Unless this new person decides to spend an several years rewriting the game to fix the combat. Its either that or do ESO2, which is definitely not happening under MS as we seen. Otherwise the game was mostly fine for what it is. The rewrite would be worth it and I dont see why t he shouldn't do it though. They could hit up other outdated mechanics or add modern features like mantling around the world to get the game feeling fresh. Playing New World and then logging into ESO is a very awkward experience. For anyone that still plays, or occasionally dips their feet in the game - is this a good thing or a bad thing? The only thing Ive wanted to change in the game, really, since its beta - is the combat. Why in the literal fuck they let the combat deteriorate into that cluster fuck of annoying shit at the end game is beyond me.
Go try New world. It should be cheap now. Great combat system which is easy to learn but harder to master. And its not tab targeting BS either. It also has some survival stuff going on too. So you can basically become the master of all gather/crafts if you are so inclined. Back when I played it at release it did not have any meaningful end game, but im sure they have added some by now, or at least I hope they did, lol. But even if not, its still great to just run through, level up and gear up a character in that game. Tons of fun. It has a 2 weapon system which you can change on the fly. So for exmple you can have a spear and a great axe. And switch between both at a press of a button. Both having their own attack types you spec into. Guns/bows, blunderbuss, hatchet, axe, spear, huge hammer, greatsword.....I tried going back to EQ live a couple times. It's such a shit show. It got way too over complicated with gear slots and gems and stupid fucking AAs.
So recently I tried this game. It's pretty and runs smooth but there is zero challenge. You just run around from mob to mob playing whack a mole with zero danger or consequences.
Anything else out there that's a middle ground? This reminds me of toon town, where EQ you need a computer science degree and a month of study just to level your character.
I loved playing elden ring and baldurs gate recently. One for awesome combat and the other for amazing quests and tactical fights.
I haven't seen any MMO that I don't get sick of in a couple days. Auto attack and tab target is such a dated concept. ESO is at least somewhat interactive but you're just spamming light attack 99 percent of the time and doing telegraphed dodging 1 percent of the time. Not very immersive or challenging.
