LMAO that's an understatement!

Who's the blonde on the right? Is she that hot in any particular movie?

Friend also says that Dunham is a monstrous cunt. Constantly barking at people, saying they're doing things wrong, etc, will probably eventually get accused of being abusive. Natalie Portman is basically microscopic in person. If Dunham gets mad enough, she might unhinge her jaw and gobble up Portman.

Vanessa Kirby, indeed.

Who is the other girl that's attractive in that movie?

I hope you're not referring to the Silver Surfer because you need to get better standards than Julia Garner. She looks like Woody Harrelson.

yeah surfer chick, since she's metal the whole movie you only see her bod and it looks good in a skin suit on a surf board, but then again i've always had a thing for surfer chicks ever since Surf II

i thought she was supposed to be a black chick (I just assumed modern marvel) so I was kinda surprised to see her actress be pale white. never saw ozark so dunno who that is anyways

surfer was barely in the movie and an extremely bland character anyways

I watched the first half until he gets to the “spoiler warning.” He said that the girl boss rumors were over exaggerated and it’s rather tame in that regard. I’ll give this one a shot when it comes to D+.

Only movies I’ve seen in theatres since covid have been the Batman and Deadpool 3. There are a few Im mildly interested in seeing: Superman and Fantastic Four.

oddly enough, I think a 4th captain America movie with Anthony mackie could have worked if they kept it grounded like the villains in Iron Man 1-2, Winter Soldier, and Civil War. The villains were basically just Nazis or terrorists. I didn’t even bother with it. If Anthony Mackie didn’t have basically a Wakanda Iron Man suit with wings. How anyone can think that’s captain america is beyond me.

it’s like if you recreated Moon Knight to lose his billionaire playboy status and remove all his tech, gadgets, and sociopathic murdering. . . Which is also what Disney+ did lol. So. Good job, Disney. (For those who don’t know, Moon Knight is OP. He (and the audience) doesn’t even know if Khonshu is real. He’s basically Batman meets the Punisher. His suit isn’t magic. It’s literally a gadget tech suit in the comics. Moon Knight single handedly took on the Avengers in 2020, and he teamed up with the Punisher to take out a Mexican cartel where they brutally murdered criminals. MK is the kind of anti hero that murders sexual predators and carves moons into their corpse as a sign.)

If they just stuck to the source material that sold well, they would probably be in a much better spot than whatever slop they produce now to where “fantastic four isn’t total dog shit, but it isn’t great” is the best praise the MCU has gotten in 5 years.

The dude who plays Johnny Storm is rather ugly compared to the hot shot in the comics or Chris Evans. I’m fine with cousin/micro playing The Thing. I’m fine with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm. But the casting for Reed Richards and for Silver Surfer just seems really odd. Silver Surfer shouldn’t be a 5’3” frail girl, and Reed Richards would’ve been better played by John Krasinski or Brandon Routh. Tbh, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski as Mr and Ms Fantastic would’ve been a match made in Heaven.

Spoilers? Maybe?:

So the movie didn't do anything to move forward my theory that Johnny Storm is Young Doctor Doom and that's why they chose an actor with such a resemblance to young RDJ.

However, since we didn't see Doom's face, it didn't do anything to disprove the theory either... plus, the guy cares about Baby Franklin. Almost like an uncle.

the more you think about the movie the more you probably will think less of it. Its biggest flaw is also its biggest strength, its entirely self contained. You don't need to know anything about Marvel before you see this, there are no external/past/future characters that come into the movie until the post stinger, and the movie does absolutely nothing really to set up future events (except for a 30 second stinger).

Thats good, but it also means nothing really changes as a Marvel fan after watching this. No real setups for anything, no expansion of character lore, there isn't really much depth to any character here. Its what we have been asking for a while, a self contained Marvel movie without bullshit fringe around it, but I'm not really sure thats enough

Its my own fault maybe, I was expecting at least SOME big "wow" moment to lead into Doomsday. I legit thought the F4 world was gonna be killed off by Galactus and the F4 team has to escape to the sacred timeline and the only question was how/why but thats kinda on me for expecting too much?

Anyways looks like the movie is gonna do slightly better than superman dom, and maybe a lot better internationally. Be interesting to see which movie has better legs.

Wait that doesnt happen? That was like the only reason to be interested in this movie. Do they connect at all?

Jemima Kirke. Nude a lot and sometimes looks fairly nice but also sometimes look like a homeless heroin addict.

I was expecting the same as you, especially as the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts* showed the Excelsior in the sacred timeline, but nope. Which kind of sucks because that means some of the Doomsday runtime is going to be dedicated to bringing the fight between F4 and Doom to our universe, instead of just focusing on the epic ensemble thing.

Wait and see, I guess.

As for my opinion for this movie, it was pretty good, much better than most of the recent MCU stuff. I'm not a huge fan of F4 in the first place so it's not the movie I was most excited to see, but we had a pretty good time with the family. I was very much lowering my expectations because I'm totally fed up with Pedro Pascal, not a big fan of Vanessa Kirby and thought the Human Torch looked like a terrible miscast after the pretty good Chris Evans back then, but in the end Pedro Pascal wasn't really annoying/preachy in it, Kirby was fine and her powers were more interesting than the Alba version, and the Human Torch guy grew up me as the movie went. Galactus was pretty good, and the Silver Surfer was okay, just kind of a plot point without much backstory except the bare bones. I'd have liked if they went a little deeper into Galactus' backstory, maybe show a flashback of his creation/Big Bang birth instead of just telling it.

No, but kinda. The only real connection is implied by the first after credit scene. Then we can mentally bridge the gap between the universes to bring F4 into the MCU world. And what happened in the end credit doesn't bridge anything. But we know what will happen (vaguely as a subject and not a blueprint), which allows that mental gymnastics of bridging the gap.

For reference, the next two MCU movies will be Spider-Man #4 in July of next year, then Avengers #5 in December of next year.

confirmed fatman

Naw, it's more like "confirmed bumbling oaf". I've always drawn attention, regardless. Put me in a group of people and I'm the one the police talk to when they show up, I'm the one that gets in trouble with the teacher, etc etc etc. Not sure how to be invisible.

Sounds like FF is a better movie than Superman overall? So I'll prolly give my ticket money to FF and sneak over to Supes after that.

That and James Gunn looks like a post-op Rachel Maddow.

Any suggestions for movies where she looks good / not the heroin addict ones?

That was the main reason I had to see it too, could echo this sentiment exactly.

I thought the same thing when Guardians of the Galaxy first came out, that they were going to probably get obliterated by Thanos at the end to set up his arrival soon. At the time there was little expectation that GOTG would be a moneymaking powerhouse franchise. They were just a bunch of jobbers that were connected to Thanos, so naturally I assumed they were there to put him over. Similar situation now with Doom and the FF pocket universe.

Wonder if they're ever going to try to bring Kang back, or if Galactus is going to be a major phase villain (assuming they don't kill him off inside of one movie, lol). Unless they're going to keep Dr. Doom around for a while (i.e. beyond Secret Wars) but I'm not sure how many of these RDJ actually wants to do. He didn't show up for FF.

I'm not a huge fan of FF or Superman, but I've seen both films. I honestly had a lot more fun watching Superman, but that could depend based on your tolerance for James Gunn hijinks. FF is overall a much more serious movie though it has moments of levity too.

Upon leaving the theater, I was surprised by how good Superman was and how much I enjoyed it, while I was just a little surprised FF wasn't a huge mess.

If you can watch both, then yes I'd recommend both.

I've seen quotes from Disney/Feige lately that didn't look promising for Kang, saying how they quickly realized he wasn't going to be the new Thanos and how he probably wouldn't be able to carry entire phases of the MCU. I'm sure part of it is to soften the blow after Majors was just fired, but to be fair I also wasn't really excited about Kang in the first place, though that could be because I never read much about him.

I don't think Galactus is going to be a phase / arc villain either, he's just a one-dimensional slow-moving plot point really. I'll let you see for yourself how it is handled in FF, I thought it was a fitting treatment for the character.

All things so far point to RDJ's Doom being the new big overarching villain, but he won't come cheap. Now, maybe Disney should stop wasting literally billions on woke DEI tripe that no one wants to see (Snow White notably) and instead give some of that money to RDJ to ensure his unending loyalty (he probably won't be trying a solo career anymore after his last stint was, what, Dr Doolittle?). Or they can go the cheaper way and have Doom played by RDJ in a couple movies and then he gets REALLY disfigured and never removes his mask anymore, and is only voiced by RDJ from then on. We'll see.
