The character models and animations are a bit jank. Like all deformed , not sure how intentional just like the black guy looks awkward being big but small arms and all that bulky gear.

The setting,,, man if anything ever dethroned 40k as like the grim dark thing. Those battles and various creatures (including older vids) Just amazing.

Yea the char models aren't my favorite either, but they talked about it a fair bit in one of the early dev blogs as a way to avoid the game just turning in to psuedo torture porn if they went with regular looking player models.

Watched Angry Joe and his crew playing this yesterday (only stream showing the game). Environments were pretty amazing, dunno why but I got really nostalgic for Anarchy Online, lol. I'll be playing asap. Didn't see any indication that PVP was a thing, but I doubt there was anyone else playing. If the game actually does include PvP, I'll prolly nope out.

This is one of those games that has No Man's Sky potential if it has a rough launch. Lots of good ideas and can easily be built upon and fixed if necessary.

You can play this now.

It runs better than I expected, but still not great. I can keep ~60fps on a 3090 on the high preset without too much trouble.

Games kinda making me feel all tingly just walking around watching giant fucking robots blasting hordes of cyberzombies.

The actual gameplay is very rough still though.

Ya less Early access beta as full on alpha. Want to support them, but would like to see it a little further along before putting money in.

Watched some previews of this. It seems pretty slow and laborious. It's a cool concept but I'm not sure how much waiting I want to do for patrols to shuffle forward 10 feet.

Yea this is definitely not the current era of 'early access' where the game is basically done and just has no content.

This is like, the cyberzombie enemies don't have a melee attack animation kind of 'early access'

I was watching a video of somebody else's posted on it earlier, and this one popped up.

I'm definitely going to wait for it to at least get into beta or at least closer to launch. Kind of excited about it and I don't get that way with video games much nowadays.

As a man of means (*means I have a job and a modicum of salary), I decided to buy it and shelve it for a while. I definitely want to support the development, and am willing to invest in it. Kind of look at it like Kickstarter.

The premise, the atmosphere, it all checks boxes for me. I may dabble with it here and there, but it clearly needs a lot of work.

I also hate it when I know I will play a game, but wait too long and then end up paying a 25% premium on the original cost when it is officially released. My means only goes so far, you know.

I was watching people play this online and one impression I got is the AI cheats a bit - they'll purposely path them towards you very frequently

There's a type of mob that spawns that does that intentionally yea. If you kill too many units of a faction/cause too much of a ruckus, or sometimes loot a particularly valuable item, it spawns in elite hunter squads that can track your location and basically follow you over the entire map.

They often get stuck on terrain tho and won't make it to you before you extract.

Watching some YT footage of this I'd say it probably should have had about 6 more months of work before releasing into early access.

Sounds kind of similar to the police stuff in cyberpunk. Create too much of a rustle, I'm suddenly you got a giant mech coming after you.

I think I'm going to go ahead and pick up the Early Access game but not play it, but at least there's some money at them to support this game.

It just sounds and looks amazing. I imagine playing with a group of people you could have the hell of a lot of fun.

I've got like 10-12 hours in to it now.

The world/visuals/sound/atmosphere is basically exactly what it looked like - completely unrivaled IMO in how good it is.

Performance is....middling. I set everything to default medium settings and it stays at mostly 60fps until you get in the middle of a few giant mechs/tanks blasting each other. Lot of improvement to be had in performance.

The core gameplay functions well enough, but the UI and looting/interacting with objects is awful. Enemy AI spawns are rough sometimes, and they will absolutely just spawn directly on top of you at times if you're unlucky. Overall though the war aspect of it with the AI factions fighting each other works pretty well, and they definitely will just be going to town on each other if left to their devices.

There's a timed resource mechanic in your base that I'm pretty dubious about, where your stock of water ticks down in realm time regardless of being in the game, and if it ever runs to 0 it resets all your base progress. I cannot imagine that remains for long.

Overall the concept is 10/10, the core gameplay is there and works if you wanna give it a shot, but definitely be aware it's gonna be real jank in some places and probably for a long time.

So if two factions are duking it out and they kill each other, do you go in loot their bodies for resources and whatever?

Yea basically you just scavenge. I'm not sure how compelling that is in the long term though.
