The character models and animations are a bit jank. Like all deformed , not sure how intentional just like the black guy looks awkward being big but small arms and all that bulky gear.
The setting,,, man if anything ever dethroned 40k as like the grim dark thing. Those battles and various creatures (including older vids) Just amazing.
I was watching people play this online and one impression I got is the AI cheats a bit - they'll purposely path them towards you very frequently
Sounds kind of similar to the police stuff in cyberpunk. Create too much of a rustle, I'm suddenly you got a giant mech coming after you. There's a type of mob that spawns that does that intentionally yea. If you kill too many units of a faction/cause too much of a ruckus, or sometimes loot a particularly valuable item, it spawns in elite hunter squads that can track your location and basically follow you over the entire map.
They often get stuck on terrain tho and won't make it to you before you extract.
So if two factions are duking it out and they kill each other, do you go in loot their bodies for resources and whatever?I've got like 10-12 hours in to it now.
The world/visuals/sound/atmosphere is basically exactly what it looked like - completely unrivaled IMO in how good it is.
Performance is....middling. I set everything to default medium settings and it stays at mostly 60fps until you get in the middle of a few giant mechs/tanks blasting each other. Lot of improvement to be had in performance.
The core gameplay functions well enough, but the UI and looting/interacting with objects is awful. Enemy AI spawns are rough sometimes, and they will absolutely just spawn directly on top of you at times if you're unlucky. Overall though the war aspect of it with the AI factions fighting each other works pretty well, and they definitely will just be going to town on each other if left to their devices.
There's a timed resource mechanic in your base that I'm pretty dubious about, where your stock of water ticks down in realm time regardless of being in the game, and if it ever runs to 0 it resets all your base progress. I cannot imagine that remains for long.
Overall the concept is 10/10, the core gameplay is there and works if you wanna give it a shot, but definitely be aware it's gonna be real jank in some places and probably for a long time.
In theory but the gunfire will probably attract more attention. So if two factions are duking it out and they kill each other, do you go in loot their bodies for resources and whatever?
Yea basically you just scavenge. I'm not sure how compelling that is in the long term though. So if two factions are duking it out and they kill each other, do you go in loot their bodies for resources and whatever?
