If Top Gear's going to get kicked off the air, they should do something REALLY offensive the next season and remove all doubt. If Clarkson and Co went out like that it would be pretty awesome
God this would be glorious. I can't even imagine the shit they would do.

BBC sent a DMCA to FinalGear.com forcing them to remove the torrent links they had to all Top Gear episodes. Now I'll need to find a new source for next season. =(

Whenever they mention internet geeks they are talking about that site. I'll have to ask ViperBond who runs the site about it

Top Gear stars 'pelted with stones' in Argentina over Falklands row

The cast and crew of Top Gear have been forced to leave Argentina following angry protests over the use of a number plate some took as a reference to the Falklands War.

Dramatic footage appeared to show the moment angry protesters threw stones and shouted abuse as a group of sports cars - driven by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - were led away by a police escort.
The Porsche, driven by Jeremy Clarkson for a special episode in South America, had the registration number H982 FKL.

The number plate sparked anger in Argentina and the cast and crew of the show were forced to flee the country after being attacked with stones by protesters.

A BBC spokesman said: "We're pleased the team is safe and would like to thank all of those who have helped. As the executive producer has made clear, the number plate issue is a very unfortunate coincidence."

The executive producer of the motoring show, Andy Wilman, earlier said suggestions the number plate was chosen deliberately were "completely untrue".

Wow, that's a lot more damage than I would have expected when I heard "throwing rocks." I figured pebbles or something.

If it really was coincidence that would suck for them. For anyone else that had to look it up real fast, it was 1982 hence the H982 being part of it.

I dunno, seems unlikely it was an accident with his history. But Brits in general don't seem real proud of the whole Falklands mess.

Well, it happened towards the end of the long trip and they clearly modified the cars for offroad. Plenty of that body damage could just be from the beating they gave the cars.

What's the car in the middle? Top is Porsche 928; bottom is Lotus Esprit. Hamster in the 928, May in the Lotus. Clearly Clarkson in the middle car due to the jackass hoodscoop.

edit, nm.

"Local councillor Juan Manuel Romano said the digits 269 on the number plate of the Ford Mustang Mustang Richard Hammond was driving were close to the 255 Britons killed during the 1982 war. He added that the numbers 646 on James May's Lotus could be taken as a reference to the 649 Argentinian casualties."

Reeeeally reaching there.

Someone on reddit posted

"Just heard on 5 live that did a look up on this car, it's had the same number plate since 2002 and the owner was last changed in august this year"

So, coincidence. Stupid assholes.

the thing is, the top gear guys have played cheeky with the license plates in the past. so even if its a coincidence, its not crazy to believe they did do it intentionally.

From some years back, and this looks like a coincidence also. In this vid, it kinda seems like they've seen it and made the joke:

Edit: But the latest thing in Argentina is stupid, there's no connection.

Part 1 of a 2 part Patagonia special aired tonight, pretty sure the 2nd part airs tomorrow. Pretty good stuff so far, they're taking some V8 cars through South America on mostly shit roads.
