Jersey has nothing to do with this.

P99 had salary caps, THJ didn't. State paperwork was "leaked" a decade ago proving P99's registered non-profit status.

Cleared 90k in donations two years in a row during it's biggest years. And that was during it's prime over a decade ago now.
You can buy a fuckton of pizza rolls for $90k homie

The RMT and GM corruption also matches DBG, so it's an easy transition going from P99 to TLP. That's probably what they meant in the part of the complaint that THJ doesn't provide the same quality of customer care.

They had one of their QA employees attempt to gather screenshots of the raid targets to show they were reusing the assets, and the employee couldn't get to Naggy/Vox on their account so had to scrap youtube for the comparison. lolll

Yea, every class got some early perks to start. Nothing groundbreaking, but just some QoL to get you moving.

My SK had some early ranks of HarmTouch AAs as he leveled.

That sounds like some of the laziest coding I've ever heard of for EQ

and I've played some of those dumpster pvp servers

You need to play it to understand. It isn't as overpowered as it seems. They've done a good job of balancing shit for the most part. Pet cucks(OP) and white damage(under powered) builds are the outliers. It would be in Daybreaks best interests to work out some sort of deal with the lead devs, and bring the server to EQ live. It would make a ton of money. Something tells me they tried to do that and the THJ devs balked.

That brings up an interesting question. Day break will get THJ source code from discovery. Can they take it and implement the exact server, making it even better because it will scale to Live?

I'll go on record as to the next TLP, 2 classes not 3 like THJ multi classing.

There was nothing stopping Daybreak from already doing this without needing their code. Just taking their code and not hiring the devs would lead to it not being 'even better', but half baked and DOA.

As someone posted above. They are neither creative nor motivated enough to produce this and keep it going. EQ is dead. It’s the passion of old players that spawns this stuff. The best outcome we could hope for is some agreement where DBG allows the server to exist with some conditions (probably financial) which means this project is dead anyway.

awesome idea, I had fun, but probably safe to move on.

A big advantage the emu scene is that they can iterate quickly at low cost. For every P99, THJ or Quarm there are 100 dogshit servers with zero population. DPG doesn’t have the ability to get as creative since most rulesets will be rejected by the boomer playerbase immediately and server failure has a much larger consequence for a real business. Not that I believe they have the passion/will to get truly innovative anyway.

I think it doesn't matter to the kind of player they wanted to attract, did a very good job of it and some could argue too good of a job.

I'll spare you the McDonalds is also popular spiel but my take is that was a lot easier than sussing out positional aggro with hide/sneak, and which mobs could or couldn't see through hide sneak in the classic era.

Honestly if some of you were having fun, then great. But I'm more on Torrid's side of wanting to preserve what was great and classic, to more of a philosophical extreme but not at all in the way of monkeying with code that you probably shouldn't be touching anyways.

Aside: I agree Daybreak is *fucking horrible* and I'm sure the people working there truly hate the original spirit of the game. Thank God for M&M and Pantheon. Yeahlight is the only guy who was truly going for the realness and he snapped when we refused to help him test a custom content server. Why is everything gay etc, nevermind.

It wasn't about vanilla hide/sneak.

You got access to 75%(?) of the AA up to like the 10th Xpac, at level 1 (the rest were unlocked by or at 60). They gave each class some AA in order to smooth out the leveling and make them more appealing to pick.

Some classes like rogues and bards got the best skips in the game and some classes got combat niceties, like rangers with infinite quiver, all from level 1, for free. Each class had 3 or so AA that they included from the start, 1 big AA was auto granted at certain levels (mage bag at 50), and 1 or 2 lines that auto leveled with you (Improved Harm Touch, outside of the last AA point).
