Wired had a ton of dial up porn BBS ads on the last couple of pages back in the day. Still remember mailing one a membership request + $$$ when I was like 13. Got the account created and was d/l low res boobs at like 9600 baud. Of course they were all long distance so my parents were pissed when their phone bill came back.
Also made the rookie mistake of stealing a bunch of CC#s with AOHell and leaving a print out on the printer. Tried to explain that one away. Magicing up accounts was sorta fun back then. Either through easily beatable AOL code or people just being too new to realize that if random AOLAdminxX asked for your info it -probably- wasn’t legit.

Using ProComm to make custom modem init strings to do multiplayer Doom. Shit that was great.

I remember the sysadmin at college giving me a copy of the internet bible. He said this was everything I'd ever need to know about the internet. Now, I admit I'm a slow reader, but it was dated before I was halfway though. If it was everything I'd ever need to know about the internet, it should have at least been relevant for a year. The college bought thousands of those books. I think they were going to initially sell them for $5 each. Then they started giving them away until they couldn't anymore in good conscience. I always thought they should start a "history of the Internet" course and use them as textbooks. BOOM $100 a piece.

Flash was a nightmare from the day it got released. Actionscript was so shitty to develop in.
There were some really nice websites utilising it from a design perspective when it first arrived. It was fucking mindblowing to see how it changed the landscape for a time.
I did alot of flash design/development stuff from 2000-2004 or so, it was pretty much all i did for 2-3 years straight and I hated every fucking minute of it.
