I actually tried to listen to some classic Iced Earth recently and just fucking cringed at how cheesy it was. Was really surprised.
Yeah, I used to be a huge Iced Earth fan about 12-15 years ago. Saw them in concert about 4 or 5 times. I would agree that a lot of their stuff hasn't held up too well over the years. Some of its still ok though. I still enjoy the Burnt Offerings album quite a bit.

This song still remains a beast.

And Alive in Athens is one of the best live recordings I've ever fucking heard. But I mean... they'vealwaysbeen cheesy. I find it odd it took you years to come to that realization lol.

Something Wicked is still a great album from front to back.

I'm actually so fucking upset I missed that show, they may never play here again and god damn it. Just god damn it.

More Neurosis: the drums in this song have always given me a boner. Especially the entire last minute of this video.

they closed the set with that song.

if i remember right, the setlist was:

Locust Star
The Doorway
Distill
My Heart for Deliverance
The Tide
At the Well
Through Silver In Blood

most other stops on this tour have also gotten A Sun That Never Sets and Stones From the Sky on their setlist. detroit didn't get any extra songs to replace them, we just got a shorter set.

oh, and they didn't do a visual show at all. just used the house stage lights.

still one of the best shows i've ever been to. i want to see them at one of the big festival shows they do on the west coast and in europe. i think it would be worth a plane ticket just to go see them again.
