If anyone looked at the history of the NFL and what people have done to gain any advantage, constantly, consistently, you wouldnt be so shocked.

"Oh my stars and garters! Why they deflated their balls, heavens, I have the vapors! Someone get me the smelling salts I feel faint."

Pretty sure they said its a 25,000 dollar fine. Don't lose your shit if nothing else happens.
$25K is fine as a first offense. In the NFL, penalties always escalate for repeat offenders. Any other franchise other than New England should be subject to the minimum, but New England is now a repeat offender, so they need to be dealt with like anyone else that repeatedly offends.

Just more retarded shit to make me not want to watch the NFL anymore.

Who the fuck cares about how much the balls are inflated? Is that really what sports journalism has come to?

Is it per offense? Since this would be the first offense at ball tampering.

Also no outrage Joeboo over bribing officials? Oh that's because the Buccs suck now so you don't care. I think your fat ass just broke your moral high horses back.

Literally any team other than the patriots and this is a non issue. Even rogers admitted to testing the limits to see if the refs let out pressure.

The idea that this should warrant multiple draft pick losses and belichick being suspended for the s.b. is a fucking joke.

Meh, Let the NFL take a draft pick and fine the Pats 50k and be done with it. I sincerely doubt it will be a pick in the top half though.

Really though... Unless the NFL wants all the talk about this game to be about freaking air pressure in balls, they should resolve this pretty quick.

But in reality, at least from the inane chatter perspective.... Belichick has coached to 6 Superbowls with Brady. People like Joeboo just refuse to accept how bad their team is. So the Pats are cheaters and liars who only win because they tape practices and deflate balls.

When in reality, if Robert Kraft fired BB tomorrow, every one of the people so shocked and dismayed would be screaming for their team to fire their current coach and hire Belichick.

if its 25k and a 7th round pick we'll find out the NFL gives 0 shits

if its a high draft pick then flame away because they do give shits

Most fans don't know it, but before the game we would doctor the footballs that would be used. Until the season of 2000 it was up to the home team to provide twenty-four game balls to the officials for each game. A brand-new NFL football straight from the factory is not easy to throw or catch. It's rock hard and very slippery. So in the privacy of the locker room before the game, players would take the footballs and rub them and scrub them to remove the glaze, or deflate them, then pump them up with air real big to stretch the leather. On some teams the kickers would put them through a cycle in the dryer. Some teams did this, but naturally not the Steelers, because we were righteous folk who would never stretch the rules, and when these other teams-not the Steelers-were finished, they would put them back in the plastic wrapping and right back in the box. Some teams-who were not the Steelers-after the officials had checked and approved the game balls, would let out a couple of pound of air to make it easier for the quarterback to grip it. A little less air would make the ball spongier. It was what might be called a perceived advantage-both teams played with the same ball.
Longtime college football manager: Everyone cheats and deflates footballs on game day | - Yahoo Sports

Y!: Ball-tampering in general, it's sort of a behind-the-scenes thing in college football, maybe like a major league pitcher scuffing a baseball. Were you guys surprised someone got caught deflating footballs?

A: Not really. Being around football, it's just common. It's just the way it works. Everybody does it. You know you're not supposed to do it, but nobody thinks it's that big of a deal. I don't think anybody looks at it as cheating.

Patriots don't do anything any other team doesn't do, they just suck at doing it without getting caught.
They don't get "caught". People get jealous and then tattle on them. In my opinion being told on by someone who knows what's going on in NFL games and being caught are two different things.

In every pro sport pretty much every player is doing anything that they can to get an edge. It's more of a psychological thing than an actual advantage, but if you feel like you have an edge then you do sort of. Belichek pushes it a little further than most, sort of like Lance Armstrong measuring every setting on his bike himself, to the millimeter, but that's what makes them the best. They do every single thing that they can to try to win even if it means stretching the rules a little or flat out breaking them if they think that they can get away from it. Armstrong didn't win because he doped, he won because he was the best rider AND the best doper out there. Belichek probably has a similar mindset.

Not sure why everyone's shocked. We've known the Patriots were cheating scum for many years, since 1982 basically.

The "dey just got caught LOLZ" argument is moronic. So you get in trouble when breaking the rules? Gee no fucking shit who would have known. It's almost like the entire league takes performance enhancing drugs or some drug of some type and only a couple people get caught are punished. WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT?

That's the exact point. Its not a big deal they got caught. Punish them and let's move on.

I agree, vacate their post season run and give the Colts the Superbowl spot, 1 year suspension for Belichick and move on. More than fitting for repeat offenders of cheating.

No one cares what a do nothing division rival says about the Patriots. Not really sure you can even call the Tuna a rival since they have never been a threat to the Patriots complete dominance of their division since B&B started. More like the Miami also played.

Yeah it's almost like the past 10 years for the Dolphins have been like the preceding 30 for the Patriots.

I was pulling for the Colts, but now I hope the Pats take it again just for the massive nationwide butthurt.
