I'm at a company event right now and this ridiculous Boston homer just bet me $100 that the Pats are going to win by 14 or more. I collected his $100 in advance.

It doesn't seem like that ridiculous of a bet. If the Pats win, I suspect it will more likely be because the Seahawks defense couldn't keep them stifled and they take a pretty good sized lead. If the Seahawks win, it will probably be a low scoring game on both sides.

I don't know why I'm so bothered by the fact I might lose a $100 bet made prior to the season starting with the friend who's a Seahawks fan. He took them to repeat against the field. I think I'm just irritated Seattle ended up getting home field due to the 3 way tiebreaker rules which ignored Dallas' head to head win, aided by the Cardinals plague of injuries at QB which gifted them Carolina in the Divisional Round, followed by the epic choke fest that was Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game.

It's not even the money, that's chump change, it's the fact I'm going to have to listen to him talk shit forever about how he picked them to repeat and they might actually pull it off. I hope the Patriots deflate all of Brady's footballs so he throws for 500 yards and 8 TD passes...so I can send him this video and talk shit forever.

Just saying what I've read. I'm not saying it is possible or not.

Can a bag of footballs be deflated in 90 seconds? | ProFootballTalk

So can 12 (or in this case 11) footballs be deflated in that amount of time? One league source with extensive knowledge and experience in the NFL believes that 90 seconds provides enough time to do it - especially if the type of bag allowed the valves to be accessed without individually removing them. (The bag in the photo, for example, has a large zipper that when open permits quick access to the balls.)

The source called it as "easy" thing to do. "Needle in each ball for a couple of seconds," the source said.
This is why this shit is getting out of control. First, why is this an anonymous source? Is this guy a professional ball deflator and is worried about getting caught? Second, unless that's actually a thing (professional ball deflator) how in the fuck does anyone know that 90 seconds is legitimately enough time to do this. Oh, it's an "easy" thing to do? Fuck off. Fuck PFT and fuck ESPN. They're just doing this to drive clicks and ad revenue.

I really can't believe anyone is taking this shit seriously anymore.

Listening to Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless whine about Lynch's interviews is hilarious. Fucking stupid to require players to answer media questions. Fans don't have a "right" to learn about the players personal lives.

Eh, I disagree. I wouldn't say fans have a "right" to learn about players personal lives, but the fact is that these guys are celebrities, and people are interested in celebrities. It's no different for famous musicians and actors. I can even understand disliking answering media questions, but he just acts like a child. Newflash: everyone's jobs require them to do shit they might not be thrilled about, but when it's part of your job you do it anyway. You're an adult and a celebrity, grow the fuck up, suck it up, and at least make some small effort to not be an immature douchebag.

His non-answers and the resulting media butthurt are far more entertaining than any real answers could've been. Seems like great PR.

Being a celebrity doesn't mean shit. He's paid to play football. Doesn't matter if people are interested in him, it's not their right to get that wish fulfilled. I don't buy tickets to know about players lives, I buy tickets to watch my team play (and hopefully win). The biggest douchebags are the media that have grown so entitled, and end up changing quotes/stories to fit whatever bullshit narrative is going to get them the most airtime or hits anyways.

NFL revenue is fan derived, from TV contracts to sponsors to merchandise to tickets. Right or wrong (or rather, you may agree or not), but the NFL believes media access to its players helps to sell the product.

I'd have no problem with a player that wants to avoid media responsibilities giving up 25% of his salary, yet having the full 100% count towards the cap.

I'd agree if it were a case of media/paparazzi being pushy and invading personal lives, but when it's an officially required part of your job you should suck it up and act like an adult. Whether or not media stuff like this should be a required part of the job is a different argument altogether.

I don't think he didn't act like an adult. He could be just bad mouthing the media for his entire availability. He just calmly repeats a canned answer over and over to fulfill the minimum requirement of his obligation. He talked, they can't put a mandate on what he has to say.

As for the separate argument, I don't think players should be required at all.
