Earlier in his career Nolan might have done well with this. He was one of my favorite directors back then.
But he has since been sucked into the Hollywood bubble and is now a part of the system, along with their delusions. I was disappointed by Interstellar, I consider it a mediocre movie and not rewatchable. And each offering since then has been worse. Still not bad movies, worth a view. But entirely forgettable.
I'll wait for streaming.

To be eligible for Best Picture you need at least 1 person of color in the main cast. There are other % quotas for cast/crew for other awards, but it's mainly Best Picture that mandates the race-swapping you see in IP's and existing stories. It has to be main cast, and for an existing story you can't just create a new character just for the purpose of the quota so the only thing they can do is race/gender swap one of the characters.
Nolan, nor any other big budget studio movie, would ever spend money just to disqualify themselves from Best Picture.

If you have a woman as casting director, an asian guy as VFX director and the marketing departement hires a gay dude and a black dude as consultants, you are golden.
