The amount they are spending to promote this is insane. I wonder what the break even point looks like now.

don't see an IMDB score for it yet, I wonder if RT is suppressing some user votes for Odyssey. I think they did it in the past for woke movies

Havent seen it, don't know or care about movie industry financing details or rottentomatoes algorithms

There is no fucking way thats a real 96% audience score. Zero fucking chance. Not even a possibility worth considering.

Can only rate it if you bought tickets via Fandango and after showing time. Believe it or not the people who see this on an opening Thursday night are more likely to love a film to book it early. The outrage machine kinda stalled the second the movie was "general audiences" good good. Well and the what the outrage was about amounted to 10 minutes of screen time combined more or less out of a three hour movie. Im sure someone has more "Greeks" to toss out there to complain but yea, its more or less done.

Anyways this made over 15m in previews last night which is higher then Michael which opened to 97 million domestic, so the BOT of 98-128 is likely dead on.

It was really weird because we're so CGI brained now. It looked great but I'm like "where's the CGI shiny look".

Seems more like a me problem

Out of the entire cast Telemachus felt miscast. (Lol). I think Holland just felt weak next to some if these dudes. Maybe that was the point, though? Ithaca was supposed to be an easy target for boorish men.

They should've cast younger for him imo.

That shit was on purpose to make Pattinson seem even more villainyey lol. He had a lot of fun filming that shit. I liked htis more then Adebisi Adebisi i'd say like 8.8 out of 10. That third act did some heavy lifting. This will get an A Cinemascore, if you want the Odyssey by Nolan thats what this is, good and bad. Cyclops was amazing, the fact it wasn't CGI is really impressive.

Circe scene was pure horror, Agamemchad actually worked, the Laestrygonians were fucking practical too.

I liked it. Excellent movie. Nolan moving away from up-his-ass super-pretentious bullshit like Interstellar or Tenet brings out the better aspects of his talent.

A second watch might bring me up to an 8/10. I'm just not a Nolan guy tbh. I respect the lengths he goes to to film these stunning scenes but I think the way he has his films edited can annoy me. He has this Nolanesque pacing that doesn't always work for me.

This will be unpopular but my favorite Nolan is Oppenheimer, and it's prob more because I find the history of the Manhattan project to be fascinating. Even that one took me two watches before I really appreciated it.

Side note: John Leguizamo was my fave performance I think.

In retrospect I wonder if Nolan deliberately casting Lupita, Ellen Page, and Travis Scott was a genius move. They aren't in the movie much nor the main characters so doesn't really matter much to story.

Its a war/violent movie which traditionally is not something women are into, this movie might have just been passed on by a lot of women ala war and action movies. But now white liberal women must rise up to defend Queen Lupita, who knows what the fuck they think about Ellen of Trans. Most people around the world won't care too much about Helen, just kinda laugh "haha a jogger as helen lol good joke" but you've stirred the pot, gotten the right wing outrage machine to drive clicks about the movie, and left wingers to fight right wingers about it online generating more buzz about the movie.

Now normies are curious, what is everyone fighting about. It all helps the movie. Contrast that with Supergirl where the controversary was just "this white chick is kinda downsie and the story sucks", which wasn't enough to get liberal women to care

I’ve seen this and the Oscar bait theory discussed a lot. I could probably overlook all of it if the cinematography and costumes looked appealing. And if the dialogue wasn’t awful. I’ve got my problems with the story and character changes in dune. But damn does the trailer look good. Everything I see from this is either looks bad, sound bad or makes me lol(is that page scene running across the sand real? 😂 )

I’ll watch it streaming out of curiosity, but I’ve not seen anything that makes me want to see it in the theater.
