"Don't believe your lying eyes, it is not fake, gay, and retarded at all!"

*Points to the bowl of dicks bathed on a rainbow*

The movie in all of its essence is a Trojan Horse for woke and cultural Marxism, except the obvious cracks in the shell were laid out in front of us the entire time.

In all of cinema history there has never been a time when they ignored the source material for casting, but then followed the source material for the rest of the production.

Never. Zero times.

The Woman King with the 99% audience score is so fucking blatantly insane I don't know how anyone can take RT seriously.

I'm not even saying RT has some woke agenda, but I do know for damn sure they have a financial agenda which is tied very closely to the financial success of Hollywood studios. RT is not some website run by an unbiased ethical movie lover anymore. It's a business and the customer they service is Hollywood.

Again, for a verified you must buy your ticket via the Fandango app and can only review after your showtime OR rent the movie via their streaming platform. Is a person who rents or see's it in that manner likely to enjoy it? seems so. I have not seen it and other then passing knowledge that tribe were slavers and its all very ironic, i know nothing of the film. You can click all audience and it takes it down to 80%. If you took away verified and the bombers its probably more around 85ish, but again if a person was actually going to watch that movie they are MORE inclined to like it as its not a casual blockbuster.

Anyways courtesy of the boxoffice reddit. If you cant laugh at it, I feel bad, because it is funny even if you hated the film.

yeah its been well known RT isn't that useful for a while now, hell even the baseline RT score just is a binary "did a critic think this movie was ok or sucked". If its ok (60% or higher score!) it gets a 1, otherwise a 0. Thats a pretty useless metric. 97% Odyssey just means 97/100 critics thought the movie was 60/100 or better. That is meaningless end of the day. And as people have figured out, the user score just is from people clicking yes/no after a fandango booking and viewing, extremely low self selecting.

what about IMDB though? Its currently

(4.3/5.0)

I don't know how IMDB ratings work, i assume letterboxd doesn't require verification you watched or anything so thats pretty high.

By comparison Woman King is 6.9/10 on IMDB and 3.7/5.0 on letter which feels appropriate for the movie. I don't think Odyssey is gonna drop to those numbers though.

Which is not how it would work. Since the crash was "there" to un-crash from the perspective of the regular time, nobody would have to clean up the crash. Quite the opposite. People would have to come in and set up the crash so it would be there to "un-crash" and leave the road clean afterwards.

Whether the clean-up crew was inverted or not, it'd still be people carrying a car wreck onto the road and leaving it there for the next day/week whatever. Them walking and talking backwards wouldn't make it less weird.

Of course they were inverted, and there's no reason to think it had to be there for an entire day or week.

If there's anywhere it gets a positive rating then it's fake and manipulated. That will always be the response.

To be fair, just like almost any system there are issues with the IMDb rating and they use a secret weighted average adjustment so no one really knows how that rating is made. Their stance is it is there to try to combat artificial reviews and brigades (positive or negative). However, you can still see the raw unadjusted rating.

Also, I have found that older films tend to rank better (in the moment and over time) simply because people are less likely to seek out films they hate to leave a bad score unless it is recent.

For those who all think it's fake, you have to wonder why Supergirl is a 6.1, the Flash is 6.6, and The Marvels is 5.4. Those mega companies just didn't pay enough to rig the system for their mega budget films?

I don't get Nolans praise. Batman was good-great but other than that I haven't been real impressed. Interstellar was good for the first 2/3rds then it went off the rails into stupidity. Outside of the spitfire scenes Dunkirk was a dud. His Leonardo movie was dumb. His early stuff was all super forgettable. I don't hold him in any high regard as a director.

If a movie doesnt connect with the general audiences and flops (I am talking "big name" movies like the three you mentioned), the scores are reflective of people that actually saw it generally. Did a brigade of fake reviewers need to leave bad reviews of Supergirl that they never saw? Some maybe but the people that actually went did too and well not that many people went.

Really all this shows is All Hail The Mighty Cinemascore. The score from people who get polled coming out of the theater if the movie met their expectations and if they would recommend it to someone they know to watch it as well, since well people's ultimate decision on a movie that they were unaware of or unsure of is more generally based on recommendations from friends and family. And generally those people will go after the first week which will indicate the legs a movie will get. I actually got a ballot once for Dark Knight. This got an A with 80% suggesting they would recommend it to someone they know. That strongly indicates long legs and a solid second weekend. Plus it being rated R means parents will go see it later as they need to arrange a babysitter etc.

Does this apply to kids movies? Not overly well, as kids are stupid and like anything and ultimately the adults are the decision makers. Moana live action got a A- but is bombing horribly. Why? Because well its a remake Moana movie that is 10 years old and it was Moana and if you enjoy Moana you would probably like it but adults look at it and go, this shit is on Disney Plus I dont wanna spend $100 for my family of 4 to go see essentially the same movie. Where as Moana 2 which came out less then 2 years ago with the same Cinemascore made over 1 billion (psst new plot actually helps more then live action Rock Disney). Toy Story 5 got an A, has nostalgia built in, and its a new story and its almost at 1 billion.

Supergirl: B-
The Flash: B
Marvels: B (lowest score in MCU history)

B for a super hero movie is a death sentence.Weak presales, middling RT scores, etc can also set off alarm bells... but if it didn't open strong and the people who did go and are most likely to want to like it didn't nor overly recommend it, it cuts the legs out from the film and it flops. Lets be real, people want to be entertained by these flicks, and if Supergirl wasnt some child trafficking pseudo party girl thing that look bad and had a bad script, it probably could have done well. But audiences hated it and noone said to me "Hey go see Supergirl, its actually pretty good", so ill never watch it even though I am rarely swayed by culture war BS.

B for a horror movie is genre specific and generally considered a solid result, could be slow burn and audiences thought it would be Blumhouse jumpscares. Sinners is the ONLY horror film to have an A, general horror audiences loved it and it made a pile of cash, it doesn't mean its the best horror film, just one that connected with its audience.

A D for Mother by Darren Aronofsky makes it super interesting to me, full audience rejection movies are super interesting in their own way. I didn't love it, but it did make me wonder how it ever got a theatrical release lol

I mean, not entirely untrue. Quite a few beats are just recycled Oppenheimer in sandals ... at least all the "I feel so guilty for creating a weapon that changed warfare", or so.

She is genuinely awful.

We all grew up having to read Lattimore but the best "modern" version is probably Fitzgerald, with Lattimore having the better Illiad.

What's funny is the meme before the movie came out where they swapped Achilles for Ellen and she immediately gets speared....is exactly what happens in this movie.

The weak girl run is the point. Sinon was never meant to go to war, to take the place of the man. He was only there due to the cowardice of the "real" man.

There's no character named Sinon in the Odyssey. Just this Oddity.
