Yea NH. Also, lowering neck tension isn't necessarily going to fix a bad setup from time/climate, I've had necks go concave and convex.

Sorry, I should clarify. I meant when I put on the new set of strings I'm going to give it a full setup (I do them myself), so it will be good for the guitar. It's been a few years since I've done it, but just started playing more seriously again.

I can't find a decently priced 5150 to save my life now either, and I have cash in hand!!

I've also put my RG up for trade/sale as a feeler on a few forums, lot of interest but a lot of weird offers - Schecter JL-7 without a Floyd (I desperately want the floyd model), Carvins, Ibanez Xiphos. Not 100% I want to get rid of it, but I really want a 7 string.

What's wrong with a Carvin? I've had mine for about 7 years now and I still don't have the desire to get another guitar. Maybe a gold top. But I'm not serious enough about it to even look at guitar porn.

Nothing wrong with them, I just don't like playing them personally. I think they look gorgeous. Here's the one that was offered:

Are you generally an Ibanez guy? I'm just sort of curious here because Carvin's build quality is generally pretty great. Are the necks not thin enough or something?

Die hard Ibanez fan. I am actually considering the Carvin - he wants $300 on top of my guitar. Only worry is I'd definitely have to replace the pickups too so we're talking an extra $500-600 on that guitar total.

It's such a nice looking guitar.

No real number in mind. I was telling people 800 because I didn't really want to sell but I'll entertain any offers.

Had the family out so took a pic. One was played out at bars since 1976.. The color difference on the maple is nuts.

Heh heh. I don't really play it much. It needs new frets, some of the hardware has gold plating falling off. It's from 1976 I think, I gotta find out.

It's actually an odd ball though, I've only seen one other with that finish and neck. Once in my entire life. I don't even know how you'd price that.

Anyways my dad gifted it to me when I was a kid so I'm hoping to one day do it with my son too if he plays.

I know you were joking, it's just a cool guitar to show people.

No, they're seymour Duncan's but I have no idea what they are. My father forgot too. I can try to take a pic later. One of the pickups is shimmied because my father broke a screw or spring or something.

1977 Ampeg V-4 head. I was dubious while buying it but since having some people look at it, it had been, figuratively, only used to drive to church on Sundays by an old lady. This amp has probably only had power 5 times in its lifetime and the original tubes are still putting out amazing sound. The clean is perfect for recording but it also ends up screaming with sequenced ods and a big muff.

Guitar is a guilty pleasure that I finally had enough cash to pick up. 2015 masterbuilt reissue of a 1962 doublecut penguin. A work of art in appearance and sound. I don't want to be too much of a schill but if any of you guys are in the southwest area and need gear i highly recommend Rainbow guitars in Tucson. I've found amazing guitars there and have never been able to find this shop's equal anywhere on the west coast.

Some shady ass people out there. That guy with the Carvin was stringing me on for several days, said he'd get back to me. Today I message him asking what's up - says he decided to let a local guy buy it - ok whatever. Then I see him bump his FS/FT post. Why couldn't he just say he wanted something else?

I really need to figure out how to increase my finger speed. I can play the pretty fast when I'm below the 12th fret but trying to do stuff around the 3-9 seems so much more difficult. Like I've been trying to play the Plug-in Baby intro at full speed but I just can't seem to move around the strings fast enough.
