To pivot back to your original comment, I think this comment by Thiel is spot on. There is probably no grey area when it comes to technology like this.
So while Vance's comments might come off as silly, keep in mind that a majority of the supposed legacy intelligence and military leadership guys in the know, essentially hold the "demonic" belief as well - with many citing the harm they do.
