Look, I want to give Edgar Wright the benefit of the doubt for past service to mankind (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), but this did not do it for me.
Yeah, it matches the book setting more (where the entire country is theoretically after them, and they have to record and mail video testimonials every day so they can't just camp out in a cave), but everything else feels like a downgrade vs the original, from changing the villain from a entertainment conglomerate the populace actively roots against by the end to "Americans suck!", to the Stallone Judge Dredd city sets, to the live-in-their-moms'-basements rebellion members (compared to the militia / ex-cons of the original).
Not a good first impression in my book.
