It was one of those movies on at like 2 am lol. I am sure I don't remember much clearly.
I remember it being okay just to waste some time, kind of a goofy concept but at least it was something somewhat original. There's a lot worse things out there.

I thought the host of the show at first was the guy who plays Milchick from Severance, but its someone else.

Look, I want to give Edgar Wright the benefit of the doubt for past service to mankind (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), but this did not do it for me.

Yeah, it matches the book setting more (where the entire country is theoretically after them, and they have to record and mail video testimonials every day so they can't just camp out in a cave), but everything else feels like a downgrade vs the original, from changing the villain from a entertainment conglomerate the populace actively roots against by the end to "Americans suck!", to the Stallone Judge Dredd city sets, to the live-in-their-moms'-basements rebellion members (compared to the militia / ex-cons of the original).

Not a good first impression in my book.

If it's a remake of an Arnold movie it's 100% going to suck and what the actual fuck with that trailer.... that's gotta be a parody.

Its an Edgar Wright movie which means a certain vibe and pacing. I doubt they will go with the book ending, but I would love it if they did. This trailer is giving me more of a Baby Driver vibe, which I think is a good thing.

I thought in the book the general populace gave hints and sightings - and got money? and the hunters were the only ones “doing the shooting” - this just looks like john wick when he gets excommunication now EVERYONE happens to be a secret assassin

I just rewatched the Arnold movie. It's awesome but not what the book is about, I didn't realize most of his one liners are from that movie 🤣

Running Man and Total Recall were my favorite Arnold movies as a kid. My dad had them recorded on VHS and I watched them both probably a dozen times. I read the book a few years ago and it was nothing like what I was expecting.

I'll probably watch this when it's free on HBO or Netflix. I'm expecting it to fall flat just like the Total Recall remake did.

Why wouldnt they cast Steve Harvey as the game show host? Wood have been way more fitting. Total missed opportunity.

Seems like king "borrowed" a lot of ideas from Logans Run anyway, like he usually does.

He got too old for it but for a while I would have wanted Drew Carey. Richard Dawson is doing work every second he's on screen in the original film and I think Carey could have swung from game show host to villain in a similar fashion.

Ahh Logans Run… I never really saw the connection really other than titles have “run” and some people mix the two stories and titles up.

Intro to Logan’s run is hilarious “why are you on future tinder if you dont wanna sex? Get back into the TV teleporter!”

The Drew Carey show was soo good. Sucks that song copyrights really fucked them. Apparently they finally got the show to be streamed, but it is on Plex.
Drew Carey fell into that cushy job doing The Price is Right and kinda fell off the Hollywood stuff. I don't even think he has done stand up in years.

I remember seeing one of his stand-ups on Showtime back when I was in high school late one evening. I think it was his first big special that he ever did. Just had never seen the guy before him thought he was pretty funny.
