Going back a couple of days, sorry I'm late to the party.

I disagree that Stewart's work is satirical. I disagree that his work (at least the "Palin Busted!" video) is comedic. I disagree that his work isn't hateful. I disagree that he caught Palin in a lie. I also think you're being powerfully naive by not acknowledging that Stewart knows his audience damned well and is giving them exactly what they want, and what they want is an excuse to shit on Palin. I think he knows very well that his viewers are the same demographic that harass Palin, and that by exploiting their irrational anger for hits and attention he is complicit in the harassment she receives. Don't try to take that statement and apply it to Thunderfoot. I'm not talking about Thunderfoot. I'm talking about Jon Stewart, under the exact circumstances surrounding his attack pieces and the real-world consequences of those attack pieces. He decided to push a narrative that was in high demand ("Palin is a liar") and he did so by producing dishonest hit pieces that directly had an effect on the life of the person he was attacking. If you want to pick nits about the definition of satire and what that includes, knock yourself out. Seems to me like you're just going off on whatever tangent will allow you to pretend Stewart isn't a provocateur opportunist milking a witch hunt for profit and attention.

Literally everyone realized how easily that turnaround works on what he said. Even fucking tanoomba realized it and pathetically attempted to counter preemptively with "don't talk about Stewart lol". It's comically sad.

Really? I was actually kind of stunned Vvoid went through the effort of making that post specifically because of how badly it DOESN'T work. Jon Stewart is known as a comedian. That's how he became a star. Show me any of his videos about Palin and you will hear a studio audience laughing boisterously at his well-written, well-delivered comedy. His jokes have structure, there is a set-up and a payoff, they play off of current events and common knowledge in a way people can relate to and see humor in... he didn't get to be the host of a hugely well-regarded long-running comedy program for nothing. NONE of that applies to Thunderf00t.

Yes, Stewart knows his audience, and he know what they want... And what they want is TO LAUGH. I haven't seen a shred of evidence that indicates people use Stewart's work as material to harass Palin. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but if they do they are outliers in a group of people who otherwise watch Stewart for entertainment. Stewart has NEVER exploited people's anger and need for a villain to rally against. If anything, he diffuses anger by exposing the folly and silliness of the things that make us angry. He doesn't rile people up for attention, he's an entertainer first and foremost. That does NOT apply to Thunderf00t.

Stewart's work is not personal (even if the PR departments of the people he lampoons have to make a show of saying otherwise) and does not lead to real-world spikes in their harassment. He was not dishonest in his work (far as I know, he never lied or misrepresented anything in order to push an agenda), and his work has never been anything less than obvious satire. You absolutely can NOT say that about Thunderf00t.

This is yet another example of the dogpile putting all their faith in a terrible argument absolutely packed with flaws, but being more than happy to ignore all of them because the priority is just to try to make me look wrong. Logic and reason need not apply. What else is new?

What the fuck are you even talking about? Stewart and Thunderf00t are not the same person. They do not do the same thing. They do not have the same audience. They do not have the same intentions. They do not use the same means to get their messages across. They do not have the same impact on the people they talk about. They have virtually nothing in common. When Vvoid attempted to make the point that they ARE the same by switching their names in a post I made, he created a nonsensical garbage post that was riddled with awkward inaccuracies and ended up STRENGTHENING my point. How can you say that has no meaning? I say you can't compare them, Vvoid proves my point, and you jump in with "Doesn't matter! Doesn't matter! Nyah!" Jesus Christ, you can't argue without having a point but damned if you aren't trying your best to do just that.
