I mean, I never really followed the Hitman deal back when it was going down, I just poked a little fun here and there, and then had to wade into that thread when people went apeshit and people were reporting posts and whining left and right.

I gotta be honest. Tanoomba doesn't really have any supporters left. And he can argue until he's blue in the face (that seems to be the norm) but whenever the proverbial GG shit hits the fan, it always seems to involve Tanoomba trolling the shit out of everyone by repeating his odd interpretations ad nauseum and being muleheaded. From an AMOD standpoint, I'm not about to read 4k Tanoomba posts to see if he's ever turned up a nugget of truth, and IDGAF whenever he reported people for that "suicide?" bullshit. For me, seeing him trying to twist words and ignore context was enough for me; I see no reason to engage him beyond what I just tried here. And despite his protestations to the contrary, when I see a single person at the center of forum shitstorms on a habitual basis that leads me to feel that he's the one shitting up threads, whether he's doing it intentionally or whether he is an ardent SJW true-believer that cries "I'm a victim" every time the forum dogpiles on him. He was butthurt back when I RRPed him the last time, as if he thought I was going to go through that thread with a fine-toothed comb and RRP all the people jumping up and down on him. I'll give Tanoomba credit though, it seems like he at least tries to keep his more egregious posts inside the Rickshaw now, but he definitely strikes me as a troll who seeks out conflict even when he knows full well that it's going to stir the pot. If he is going to follow after me trying to re-engage on a topic about fucking columns after I threw up my hands and walked away, figuratively speaking, then I get the feeling that this is part of his "trolling by not trolling" MO.

The next time the GG thread explodes into insanity, he better hope that he's not in the middle of the scrum again.

Erronius: "whenever the proverbial GG shit hits the fan, it always seems to involve Tanoomba trolling the shit out of everyone by repeating his odd interpretations ad nauseum and being muleheaded."

That's one way of interpreting it. God knows you're not alone. Another way is that the reason I am repeating anything at all is because
a) The things being repeated have been ignored and/or never refuted in any way.
b) I am responding to a baseless personal attack which has itself been repeated ad nauseum. (Funny how those are just fine, though.)

Erronius: "From an AMOD standpoint, I'm not about to read 4k Tanoomba posts to see if he's ever turned up a nugget of truth, and IDGAF whenever he reported people for that "suicide?" bullshit."

I wouldn't expect you to read 4k posts. I would expect you to read a couple and see that zero rules are being broken, and the far more egregious behavior is coming from the ones doing the bitching. Also, I never even reported any of those "suicide?" posts. Despite me having good reason to, I decided to take the high road and not stoop to crying to mods about other people's shitty posting habits. A lot of good that did me.

Erronius: "I'll give Tanoomba credit though, it seems like he at least tries to keep his more egregious posts inside the Rickshaw now"

You're welcome. If a little self-censorship help keeps the peace, let it not be said that I don't make sacrifices for the greater good. I'm actually pretty shocked that people keep coming in here to complain about my posts, though.

Erronius: "he definitely strikes me as a troll who seeks out conflict even when he knows full well that it's going to stir the pot"

Is that against the rules? Yes, pointing out people's hypocrisy tends to "stir the pot". Is this board supposed to be a conflict-free circle jerk or an open exchange of ideas? Heck, I dare anybody to say I've ever been anything less than AT LEAST as civil as the people I address in my posts, and usually significantly more so.

Erronius: "If he is going to follow after me trying to re-engage on a topic about fucking columns after I threw up my hands and walked away, figuratively speaking, then I get the feeling that this is part of his "trolling by not trolling" MO."

Dude, you made a silly point. I wanted you to see that it was silly. It's nothing against you personally, everybody makes silly points now and then. Talking "about" something has commonly accepted connotations that are, for some reason, being willingly dismissed by many posters here. It's worth noting.

Erronius: "The next time the GG thread explodes into insanity, he better hope that he's not in the middle of the scrum again."

Oh, I'm not the poster you should be worried about.

My pleasure, but if you will do me but one small indulgence, please take this one-question quiz and report to me when you're done:

I eagerly await your answer.
I remember this, this is when you swapped to the trope argument because you backed yourself into a corner. Of course, as I pointed out a few pages later; it still doesn't work. Even if we both agree Anita was talking about a trope IN HITMAN, then Thunderfoot USING HITMAN to display how those mechanics do not exist still proves Anita lied or misrepresented that tripe WITHIN Hitman. And since she used Hitman as her example of that trope, it is a perfectly valid critique to look at Hitman to see if the trope is accurate.

This was not hard, Tan. It was after this you kind of just gave up and began going in circles. Very sad.

I'm still curious why Tan never answered Khaliar's question about why he so vehemently denies that she was talking about hitman if he maintains that hitman is a perfectly valid example of the trope.

I'm genuinely curious how he justifies spending a year of his life arguing that something isn't the case when even if it was the case, he would agree with it anyways.

Yep.

Either he really doesn't believe that Hitman fits, or he is the biggest pedantic douchenozzle in the history of pedantic douchenozzles. Wait, that is a false dichotomy, he could be both I guess.

the gta thing, I presented evidence by showing video searches of people killing all kinds of things in gta with higher numbers that "prostitute" returned, people can look at it and see If my point that it's greatly exaggerated is right or not.
Don't worry Fana, some of us have accurate memories.

Total views of all first page Google video results for:

"GTA 5 Killing Hookers": 1,238,307
"GTA 5 Killing Family": 7,664,434

It's also interesting to note that GTA 5 has sold 50 million+ boxes at this point. Not including the millions of resale copies people have bought & played, that means only 2.5% of GTA 5 players have sought out a video of another player killing a sexualized female. GTA 5 players must REALLY get off on murdering loved ones in cold blood, because now we're talking about a significant portion of the player base at 15%. I wonder if there's been a spike in spousal/child murder in the last 2 years? Maybe Jack Thompson has those statistics, since I'm sure that fraud Sarkeesian is just bathing in a pool of money, and her own 'trained feminist' (rofl) feels.

Yes, Lithose, I remember that too.

The thing is, she can be using Hitman as a valid example of a trope and still not be talking "about Hitman". Thunderf00t misrepresents Sarkeesian by strongly implying that the reward/punishment system within Hitman itself is what is "encouraging" players to attack the strippers. That is not what she was saying.

"Games ask us to play with them. Now that may seem obvious but bear with me. Game developers set up a series of rules, and then within those rules, we're invited to test the mechanics to see what we can do and what we can't do. We are encouraged to see how the system will react or respond to our inputs and figure out what is permitted and what is not. The play comes from figuring out the boundaries and possibilities within the game space. So in many of the titles we've been discussing, the game makers have set up a series of possible scenarios involving vulnerable, eroticized female characters. Players are then invited to explore and exploit those situation during their playthrough."

Please note that she in no way implies that the game pushes the player or otherwise offers any incentive whatsoever to attack the strippers. The entire concept of invitation and implicit encouragement as she presents it is related to how games are designed and played, from a "let's see what the game will let me do" standpoint, not from a "the game is telling me to kill strippers and gives me shitlord points for doing so" standpoint. Again, she explicitly acknowledges that there are negative consequences for these actions, which directly contradicts what Thunderf00t claims she says.

So you see, Lith, the following statements are all true and in no way contradict each other:
- Sarkeesian was talking about trope. To say "this is what she had to say about Hitman" is a misrepresentation, especially since there is nothing she says that applies specifically to Hitman; She could have used footage from any of the 25+ other games and not changed a word and her point would be exactly the same, making it extremely difficult to continue pushing the narrative that it was "about Hitman".
- She used Hitman as an accurate example of a game containing the trope being discussed. That does NOT mean TF's criticism is accurate "because it applies to Hitman anyway".
- She did not use the terms "invite" or "encourage" in reference to in-game reward/punishment structures. TF selectively omitted the part of her explanation that makes that clear, and instead presents inaccurate conclusions drawn from misleading information.
- She acknowledges that there ARE negative (if insignificant) consequences for the actions being described. TF selectively omits that too in order to make it sound like she's saying the game rewards you for such actions.

Of course, I'm going to be accused of repeating myself again. Of course, none of what I'm saying here will actually be acknowledged in any reasonable way. It doesn't count because... Tanoomba. That's all any of you need.

Be curious no more: It's because he's on my ignore list and I don't read his posts and have no intention to. But that question has been answered in my above post anyway.

Quaid: "Don't worry Fana, some of us have accurate memories."

Accurate enough to remember that killing hookers is a gamer-created meme and is one of the things the GTA series is best-known for? Apparently not.

Gamer created meme huh? But the devs included the option in the game. You argument is that that indicates they explicitly intend for players to do that, which would make it a dev created meme.

Yet another moon bat contradiction
