I was fine for months on Rerolled keeping the posts I knew would disturb the shit in the Rickshaw. I had had enough experience being RRPed to know what would set the mods off, despite my not actually breaking any rules. I found a happy medium where I could still have my say and not be made an example of by butthurt pussies.
Then we moved here. The community joined their hearts and voices in demanding hands-off moderation. They insisted they were capable of handling trolls and shitposters on their own, that they didn't need the man policing their threads, relying on their personal biases to mete out "justice". Yes, I know they were talking about SJW mods word policing, but their words reflected my sentiments EXACTLY. However, I knew damned well that if I started pushing buttons before we even established any kind of rules that I would be dealt with harshly and I legit didn't want any of the discussion to be about me.
So I played nice, stayed out of the threads I'm known for, and didn't even make antagonizing posts in the Rickshaw. I allowed the process to play itself out without taking an active role in it. When I ran for mod I did so sincerely, with the strong expectation that despite the "more freedom" rhetoric and the voted-on rules, that it would just end up a case of "freedom for all, except those I disagree with". Preventing that was the foundation of my campaign. I promised to cooperate with anybody who would be co-mod, and to remain detached from the topics I felt strongly about by abstaining from participating in heated discussions.
In the end I didn't get elected, but since we had rules and moderators I was now free to see if we would stand by the ideals we espoused so proudly. If being punished according to the whims of mods was something people hated about RR, then I should have been able to make rule-abiding posts here and not have been touched by mods, right? Lithose gave me a great opening with his oblivious dopamine post. It was yet another example of hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness that was guaranteed to lead to a dogpile. So I put both the mods and the community to the test.
Best case scenario: The community meant what they said and there wouldn't be any more bullshit mod power abuse. I expected (at worst) an infraction/warning. If that happened, I would have reverted to keeping my controversial posts in the Rickshaw, taking the opportunity to point out how we didn't really have any more "freedom" than we used to (yes, I can be a prick too sometimes). Instead, Cowboy Khal decided to wave his dick around and go against the rules, the will of the community, and his own campaign promises.
